Today on my Monday run to my local good will I spotted this beautiful Hoover Convertible. This has been a dream of mine that I never thought would happen but today was my lucky day! I have not seen many like this and if anyone has any info on when these were made etc. I would love to know more. I absolutely love this color and it appears to have the original bag and runs perfectly, just needs a belt. Hoover Convertibles are one of my all time favorite vacs and this makes number 2 in my collection. Oh and to beat all it was only $6.00!!

That one was a childhood vacuum for me😊 It was for the upstairs and we had an orange Hoover Commercial Decade 80 for the main floor. Unfortunately the blue one died sometime in the mid-2000s and was tossed out. My parents bought it in 1987 or 1988 right after they got married, I don't know which store though, It was an amazing vacuum though! And thanks to one of my good friends and member of VacuumLand, Ken Hedrick (PackardManKen), I now have one identical to it and yours😊😊😊. He found it in a thrift shop in Atlanta along with and blue Convertible with the square box-style hood. All they needed was a good spa treatment, bags and belts and they were good as new! The style of hood that's on yours is known as the "Ranger" style. That's mine next to one of my other favourites, the Sanitaire Blue-Line from 1986. I replaced the hood with the older style because I found a very nice one in chrome, which I had never seen before or since. Congratulations on your awesome find & Happy Hoovering!!!😊

I do love this machine and will be posting pics once it's all cleaned up. I love that style hood on your sanitaire, reminds me of an old blue eureka I once used at a beach house we stayed at. I have 2 sanitaires, and a Eureka 1934b that's my daily driver. . I love classic style machines.

That is a very pretty Hoover! I have one just like it, it was a childhood vacuum for me. My parents bought it in 1987 or 1988 right after they got married. It was always the main upstairs vacuum, and there was an orange Hoover Commercial Decade 80 for the main floor and a first generation Hoover Dial-A-Matic (cream colour w/ turquoise front & no height adjustment) for the basement. My family has always been Hoover family for as long as I can remember. The blue Convertible is called the "Ranger" style. It came around sometime in the 1970s I think. It's one of my VERY favourite Hoovers!😊

Speaking of Sanitaire though, I have 3: the Blue-line, the classic chrome & red commercial upright w/ shakeout bag, a brand new Sanitaire Quiet-Kleen Commercial upright w/ a hose & and some of the best hose suction I've ever seen before! The dome-style hood I installed on the Blue-Line is my favourite Eureka/Sanitaire hood ever too. It's very rare to find it in chrome too, this is the only one I've seen and several others said the same. I got the hood off a Eureka F&G upright (w/ a blue paisley bag, white handle, & a shattered fan chamber haha) that I bought from our fellow member "Rugsucker" on eBay. I of course knew the condition and bought it anyhow because I just wanted that chrome hood. It gave a semi-modern 1980s Sanitaire a very vintage feel, but a very powerful deep cleaner!

You appear to have a very impressive collection yourself too!😉 The blue Elite in your profile pic all the way to the left w/ the original style hood & stripe on the bag is one of my favourite Elites ever too! I have a Hunter Green Hoover Soft&Light w/ onboard tools from the late 1990s, that ones at our Shore house. Then I have a dark purple BOL Elite (needs a motor & is in pieces atm) and I have a Hoover Legacy from the mid or late 1980s w/ a mauve hood & grey diagonal striped bag. I love the Legacy and I've been told by several on here that it was a pretty rare machine because it's the Legacy which was the TOL Elite, but it doesn't have onboard tools, it just has the hose hookup (I have the tools too). It's a very decent light weight cleaner too!

They are my one of my favorite vacuums, an elite was the first vacuum ever given to me so I have a soft spot for all things Hoover.

Got it all cleaned up and put a new belt on it, I love this vacuum. There is nothing like the sound of a Hoover. I wished they still sold these machines new I would buy several in a heartbeat. Nothing else cleans my shag rug like this machine!
