Just scored this Rainbow at Goodwill for $20!

It works fine, it's just externally dirty like it was sitting in a shed. Cleanup will commence tomorrow.

Is the power nozzle belt on the side or In the center? Also what's the serial num?
It will still be in its warranty period! :)

Was so stoked I didn't even look that closely at the powerhead. It works perfectly fine. It's actually internally clean only the external is really dirty, like someone stuffed it in a shed after a few months.

I'm going to clean it tomorrow. Gonna call the distributor and have them put my name on the record. I worked there for a while and they out my D4s and E Series in their database,.

Wow, there's an original E series here that's not even complete that has a price tag of $500. Thrift stores, geesh. You win some you lose some.

Serial #

20200650 underneath that 111

I'm in the process of cleaning it now. It looks like it was hardly used and they put it in a shed or garage. Maybe buyer's remorse?

Yeah, you never know about thrift stores. I picked up a Filter Queen Majestic last spring for $5 at Goodwill and I've also seen some totally beaten down lesser machines at the same store for ridiculous money.

Sounds like it was the first run of the newer black series with the center fat belt powernozzle, the rainbow itself will still have 2 years on the warranty but the PN and hose will be expired as far as the warranty goes. January of 2011 was the run of this machine still an excellent score!!

Manufacturing date

Actually, 111 means it was made during the first quarter of 2011. Pretty much the same time frame though. So you have literally one of the first ones of the e2 black. Yours will have the center, flat belt power nozzle, and the canister won't have the red diagnostic light on the front. Other than that, it's the same as the current model. That's an amazing deal. I have the new model with the side belt, but I need a hose. The original purchaser damaged the hose, or lost it in a move or something, I'm not sure. I'm hoping to find a nice clean used one. Right now I'm having to use the hoses from my one speed e series.

So do you have any warranty when you don't purchase through a Rainbow distributor?

No, you must purchase through an authorized dealer for a warranty. This is not just for a Rainbow, but Aerus, Tri Star, Kirby, etc.

Warranty work...

I believe it's just how strict your local distributor is. I purchased mine through a resale app and was able to get a new motor under warranty.

I thought I found a good deal on an e2 on Craigslist for $185. It has everything except one of the straight suction wands and the dusting brush. I am going to pick it up Sunday. Really looking forward to my first Rainbow.

Mostly cleaned up

I haven't done the powerhead yet since I'm going to order some new edge brushes.

As far as warranty is concerned I worked at the local office and know the one manager so they'd probably warranty it for me. I'm going to call them and get the serial number switched so they have record of me having it anyway in case they have any deals on service.
