I've just ordered a new bottle of Odorific original.
I haven't smelled that since that old bottle my mom probably bought in the 70s, but I still remember the fragrance vividly.
As my sister so succinctly put it, "It smells like a clean hippie." :)
I'm wondering if they've changed the formula, or if it still smells the same.
If anyone has smelled both the old and the new, I'd love to hear your opinion.
Also, how are the drops applied in the early generations without disposable bags?
My mom used to just drip it on the wool bag, but won't that leave oily spots?

I don't think the new Odorific smells as good as the original.  The original had a more Tutty-Fruity smell to me.

As for using in a shake out bag.  Put a drop on a cotton ball and suck it up I the vacuum, or put a drop inside the sani-pocket.  I prefer the cotton ball as it doesn't cause the sani-pocket to discolor.

Tutti fruiti. That's pretty much it, isn't it! Like a tutti fruiti incense without the smoke. :)
Brilliant idea, sucking up a cotton ball.
The genius of simplicity.
Thank you!

GAAACK!!!

My new original Odorific arrived.
It isn't even remotely similar to the original original.
It's just a common lavender blend.
It doesn't fill a room with aroma like the old stuff did, and don't get it on you. The smell does not age well.
Maybe I'll just suck up a handful of those Downy laundry beads with the long-lasting scent.

If you want the original smell of Kirby Oderific, look for Odors Away. It smells just like it. You can purchase it at Ace Hardware in the household cleaning section of the store. At least it's available at our Ace Hardwares here. They have a web site too, I believe. I agree with you and was very happy to find it.

Odorif-aaack!

My friends all agree, the current Kirby Odorific "original" smells like old man cologne.

I dubbed it Eau de Retired Mechanic on a Hot Date, and promptly threw it away.

I followed beekeyknee's advice and ordered Odors Away.

He was right. This is the stuff!

One whiff transported me back to the 80's, pushing Mom's Omega around with that exact same scent wafting from the bag and filling the air. I love it.

It's just as concentrated too. It only takes 2 drops.

Good stuff. I highly recommend it.
