I was after a Bison for years before I was lucky enough to receive this one from Luke Gebhart. I also have the attachments with mine minus the hose. This picture of this Bison is not mine, but it looks exactly like mine.

I don't know anything about the Apollo but if you Google the info or look on our archives here you will find a newspaper article from the early 70s talking about the new commercial Apollo line.

Forgive the dust, I've not cleaned it up yet. I've been busy remodeling my house.
I've noticed a few differences in the Apollo from a regular Bison. 1. It just has a single speed switch but there is a slot for the variable speed. I wonder if they just used the regular handle with the slot but didn't add the variable speed to this model? 2. The switch in the handle doesn't turn anything on. What's it for? The switch at the bottom is what operates the vacuum 3. There's no emptor cup at the bottom of bag. Take the bag off and dump out the top. 4. There's no gear in the motor housing for the accessories like the handy butler and shoe polisher like the household models have. 5. It's not nearly as loud as my mark II Bison and therefore is somewhat enjoyable to use. Plus it seems to be a bit better constructed 6. There's doesn't seem to be any way to remove the nozzle like other Bison unless there's a trick to it that I'm missing. 7. mine has no model number tag and I can't see where one had been. |
