I have 3 semi's full of old vacuum cleaners from a retail store which closed in the late 80's or early 90's. The owner boxed it all up, and now it all needs a new home. There are 50 new vac's in boxes - Eureka, Hoover, Filter Queen, Royal, and at least 100 used units, which appear ready to sell. Then there are hundreds and thousands of outer bags, inner bags, housings, motors, casters, belts, hoses... what do we do with it? We've sold a few of the new ones on Ebay, but we prefer to sell these as lots: one lot of the new ones and one lot of the 3 semi's.... Call me at 541-821-4773. I can send pics upon request. I am in Medford, Oregon. Bryan Platt

Kirby stuff

Hi Kirby Collector: Almost every piece - motors, bags, hoods, casters, brushes...the problem is inventorying everything. I stuck my head inside one trailer and brought out 2 Kirby Rug Renovator units in boxes - and there are box after box of them. Many used Kirby machines as well. Bryan

the reason you havent sold anything in 3 months on ebay is BECAUSE you want it sold as lots. sell them as invidiual items and watch them disappear in postal service trucks to new homes. NO ONE wants, has time for, or the money to buy 100's of heavily used vintage machines and parts all at once. ive seen the photos on the used machines and they are in poor condition and most likely do not run. collectors here arent vacuum shops. vacuum shops WILL NOT buy 35+ year old inventory.. regular customers will NEVER buy it.

sell the items as invidiual units or youll NEVER sell it. been thru this with a guy 3 years ago down here in Amarillo. you wont sell all that at once. dont even try.

Kirby Stuff

Kirby Collector: Our goal is to sell it as a lot. My son and I both run businesses and find it hard to take time to work on this. If we can't sell as lots, we will eventually part the trailer inventory out... thanks! Bryan

You could hire a student or retiree to separate, photograph and list the machines on eBay, and then carry them to a UPS Store. You could offer a fairly low salary + commission on every auction that ends successfully. (The latter would be a great incentive for the person you hire to work quickly and diligently.)

I agree what others have said, that you will never sell all this stuff as one lot, especially since the vast majority of it -- other than a very few things -- would be sold sight unseen.

It would be difficult to fine someone who likes ALL

of those machines, makes, etc. I, for example, would/might be interested in some Hoover items, (cleaners, outer bags, etc). But, I'm just one person. I'd love to know the person who'd have unlimited funds to purchase ALL of it.... or who would WANT all of it. Charles has a great idea there to get someone who could go through it all, categorize, etc. for a fee. Let us know if anything fun is gonna happen .

John,

I, too, am just one person - and there are all kinds of vacuums galore that I would like to have, but being just this individual, of course it will be hard for me to find more while intending to keep what I have. Space is another reason.

All the best to Bryan from a fellow Oregonian!

We will sell them individually....

I appreciate all the input, and will have to agree that after more than a month, with no offers, selling our lot individually is the only way to go....we will begin to sell them on Ebay. Thanks for the motivation!!!! Bryan

I don't mean to be rude.

Those prices are way to expensive for most collectors,We find many machines for under $20.00 a piece at flea markets and yard sales. If you want to sell all that stuff you will have to start your auctions much lower I would start them at $9.99 or lower and get that stuff moving. the longer that stuff stays around it depreciates in value and rusts away, then its worth nothing.

I agree Kirbykid63, its too rich for my blood but certainly great for the seller. I would have no incentive to lower the prices if they were selling for that much. No sarcasm intended when I say 'good for them'! It always seems to be that these vacuum treasure troves never pop up anywhere near where I live LOL.

I've been selling stuff for years

I sell parts on ebay and i have a face book page,I have found there isn't much profit in selling used vacuums. My wife and I have found it's easier to part out machines the profit margins are better.

Bryan, great find. I would love some old vintage kirby machines or accessories. Could you post some pics of the treasure you found.

Thanks

What do you have in Filter Queen items?
I'm always in the market for Filter Queen Wand cuffs in brown. Also straight FQ wands, and any accessories for brown/chrome machines.

How about any Panasonics, Sharps, Sanyos, Riccars, and Simplicity's? If you do have Panasonics, do you have a model MC-V6255 that either works or scrap for parts? I am looking for a dust cover for that model that has at least no damages on it besides scratches.

Hoovers and Eurekas in all their NIB glory.

That's true of most vintage hobby 'stuff'. However,  that's usually figuring your labor at 0 for making smaller lots or individual item auctions.
