I was going to use this for parts, but it looks too nice.
I love the hammertone finish.
You can see the original gold paint in certain areas.
Check out the Silverado style handle.
The wheels look similar to the refurbished 1205 on the Electrolux poster. (no metal hubcaps)
I assume the paint is similar to a Silverado?
I don't own a Silverado, but the paint looks close.

Well, I found out why it did not turn on :)
Electrolux and water do not mix well.
And it is not a Super J motor. Most likely replaced when Electrolux refurbished it. (Electro Motor)
I have a some spare brushes and an extra motor for a plastic canister somewhere.
Looks like the bearings could use some help also.
Last pic shows it next to my Olympia One, my son has my Super J.

As I took the motor apart, something was rattling.
Guess what?

I've never seen a blue Olympia before; did U paint it blue?

The blue Olympia One, it was completely done over.
The axle holders are made of pot metal, not steel on the metal body canisters.
Mine were snapped from rough handling (I think dropped), and I had to fabricate something.

Well, with new bearings and carbon brushes it actually runs.
I was concerned since there were loose bearings everywhere, including the fans.
The motor runs quieter than my Olympia One, but still has plenty of suction.
For now, I'll leave it, and restore it later.
I vacuumed the whole downstairs with it & a Sidekick.
The old bearings had to be carefully removed with a Dremel & a cutoff wheel.

Also, I always use a tiny amount of anti-seize on the motor shaft, and fan housings for easier removal later.

Clues point to this possibly being a Golden Jubilee, instead of a Super J.
Comparing it to my other vacs, I noticed ..

The 1205 canister has a depression on the top when you remove the cover.
The canister for the 1205 is 19-1/8" long.
The factory refurbished Electrolux I have looks similar with the cover removed but is longer (19-7/8"
When I looked at the pics from my Super J (which I do not have here) it looks very similar to the 1205 canister, but does not have the depression and is longer.
My Olympia One looks similar to the Super J.

So I am inclined to believe this is a Golden Jubilee.
The motor was replaced by Electrolux and is a later motor from possibly a Silverado or later.
The cord winder back is flush like a Silverado, and does not have a relief on it.
So, it looks like a mix of parts.
The model is 1401.

If lt says 1401, it's a Super J

If it said 1205, it would've been a Golden J

Kirby Collector
It may have been made with Mis-Match parts

Sven
It does have the Wide Fins on the bumpers that came with the Olympia One...if it's Longer it's a Super J. They had to accomodate for the longer motor. I saw a thread about that last month. Let me look for the link

I understand your points, but this vac has a depression on the canister, unlike the super J's. It could be a very early super J.
It looks like it came after the 1205 & before the Super J.
As I pointed out, it is a long body.

If you notice, just behind the cutout where the power switch is, it is missing the screw hole as well.

Very unusual canister, thats for sure.

The later covers do fit this one, but without the screw hole, the front handle will not be able to be fastened. If you look, this one does not have a front handle.

Anyway, I have decided to use it to resurrect the rusty Silverado I have.

Nuances intrigue me,

the model number on the door does not interest me.
Doors can be changed.
I was intrigued by the long canister with the depression.
Also, as I lined up the models, I noticed the latch differs as well from the 1205 up to the Silverado.

Looks like you've got a 'FrankenLux' on your hands! I suppose Electrolux could have refurbished it from their parts bin.

It may be a FrankenLux, but it is most certainly a Golden Jubilee at the core.
The depression on the top clinches it, as shown in this pic I found from an older post that shows one with the cover removed.

fair enough
I do own a Super J, but my son has it.
I rebuilt it so long ago, and never paid attention to the canister.
My aunt needed a handle for her Electrolux, so I gave her one from one that I had.
With this particular vacuum, it has a later motor in it.
Even though I replaced the brushes and cleaned up the armature, it still has a burning smell to it. The bearings were shot, and I think the motor is done for, even though it still runs.

It was called the "High Performance Rebuilt", sold by Electrolux at the time of the Diamond Jubilee and for a few years beyond. The High Performance Rebuilt replaced the 1205, G, and L models they were selling as rebuilt units.

I've got a rebuilt model L. It was a gift from Toby Glenn. Not pristine, but it serves its function. A vacuum sweeper

The Grey factory rebuilt machines were done in the mid 1980's when the diamond jubilee and 2100 were out. Allot of them came with the new style L shaped power nozzle.

I have been corrected about this before;it was the 50th Anniversary Jubilee. Somebody coined the moniker "Golden" Jubilee and it stuck. Not clear if it was somebody from Electrolux or the general buying public.

Any metal bodied canister that housed the Super J motor originally, was longer in length to accommodate the larger Super J motor.

"Somebody coined the moniker 'Golden' Jubilee and it stuck."

It seems that it was someone working for Electrolux that coined "Golden J", as I've seen it used in the company's introductory literature of the Super J.

Electrolux USA was unique at the time in the worldwide brand in labeling its vacuum cleaners (albeit Hoover began doing it in the late 1950s). Electrolux Sweden, France, the UK, Canada, and others stayed with only using model IDs. The "Super J" label was necessary due to the continuation of the gold color theme. One wonders why the company opted to do so along with the "J" moniker rather than changing it and simply touting the new model 1401's superior performance in its sales pitches. The term Jubilee wasn't even used in the owner's manual--it just states that Electrolux had been manufacturing for over a half century. Most customers would have been lost on the gold coloring and "J" without a salesperson's explanation. Its continuation may therefore be that Electrolux had initially counted on a longer run of the 50th Jubilee cleaner and therefore had stockpiled an abundance of harvest gold covers and honeygold end caps. Anyway, while "Golden J" is sometimes used as a reference to the gold model 1205, the label is "50th Jubilee".

I've seen orignal Electrolux reprinted factory lit that says;"50th Anniversary and then Jubilee somewhere...have to dig that up again. In any event, the lit I saw said nothing about the term "Golden". Now maybe when they got to the Super J in their lit, the term "Golden" had already struck a favorable chord for the 1205 when mentioned. Because most people to this day are  still calling it the 'Golden Jubilee', the factory must have had a hand in that designation.
