I'm new to forum. I'm a collector, purveyor and hoarder (says my wife) of old things.

When I'm parting with the cool, old stuff, I try to send it to communities that appreicate it most. So ... here she is.

It's really in great condition. In additional to the original box, manual and warranty cards, there are 3 bags (1 vintage, 2 newer). Missing floor / rug tool.
Motor hums. Wheels glide.

16 photos total at yakima.craigslist.org/clt/5739489...

Please don't hesitate to let me know if I'm breaching local etiquette.

Kind regards,

retrovert

One of the best of the best of the rarest of the greatest!

WOW!This would have to be of of the nicest and most complete RollEasys(not mine)left to be found. Not to mention one of the rarest and best GEs of its time. And its time was mid century and very few things say RETRO! as well as a Roll Easy.
First the negatives-Suction band out of place.5 seconds to move over opening.
Cord not shown removed.Only a tiny change that this indicates a problem with the connection.
Missing rug/floor nozzle.Much easier to find one than the included original hose.
Motor hums.Might be the reason it remained unused in the box for probably years.Again easier to service motor or find good motor in beat up,incomplete RollEasy than to find one as pretty and complete as the above.
And the positives-EVERYTHING else!
The seller(not me)wants offers.What is yours?

While the Roll Easy is a cool looking vacuum, personally, I find them always very disappointing to use. The suction was just 'so so', the rug tool didn't clean the rug as well as many others from the same time period. And it cost the same as an Automatic E Electrolux, which cleaned circles around the GE. Glad to see the original hose, as they all broke very quickly.

@ Rugsucker

Thanks for your comments. The finish on the vac has only a couple of blemishes and, there is wear along the outside edges from running against furniture, walls. It's not too bad, but as clean as the machine is, I would not have expected the finish to show such wear.

I've added a photograph of the female end of power cord and the power port on the vac to the CL ad. The cord itself looks like new from end to end.

Regarding the motor .... I guess I should have added the word "along". I've edited the CL post to read "Motor purrs ... quietly."

Pleny of people asking what my "offer" to part with it is. I don't have a price in mind (probably why I should go ahead with ebay), but I figure someone will put a $ amount on his/her interest. I'll be out of town for the weekend, but will respond to inquiries / offers upon my return.

No issues with motor or suction

Forgive the original Greenhorn description, i.e. "hums" and "purrs ... quietly", which appear to imply there are issues with the vacuum.

There are none. The vacuum functions as I imagine it did when pulled out of the box for the first time so many years ago. And as rugsucker observed, it does appear to have spent most of its life in the the box ... in the closet.

The only thing that doesn't show up well in the photos is the soiling / scuff marks on the hose and the tools. They're not bad, but they are not in mint condition.

There was a blue bag in the vacuum when I acquired it. It was not empty, but had little in it. Having read how difficult it is to find bags, I set it aside (outside) rather than throw it away. So I guess you could say there are 3 new and 1 used bag (keeping it just sounds like a bad idea).

Meanwhile, finally a couple of inquirers have tossed out some numbers. It is appreciated.

Vac is listed on etsy.com

I have listed the GE Roll-Easy R1 on etsy.com.

Etsy doesn't have a 'Make Offer' feature, but sellers can easily modify and/or reserve a listing. The asking price is based upon messages received, comments in this post and others (e.g. Post# 234655, albeit from 2013), the condition of the vacuum (NO rust and little dust) and the accompanying paper: manual, warranty card, and boxes. I know, too, that Etsy is a popular site for international buyers of American retro who don't bat an eye at shipping costs.

If domestic shipping quote on etsy is too high, there are alternatives and I use them frequently. Send a message with your zip code for actual shipping cost.

More pics in craigslist ad (link in original post above).
