Keep your rags and windex handy. All vacuum cleaners should come with shelves.

I am so glad

They got there OK. The Kenmore with trays came from Mike Hays collection . I got the 1962 Whispertone 90 from Jimmy Martin and the hose came off ebay several years ago. That shows how advanced Sears products were, A direct connect hose was introduced in 60 and a pistol grip..the very first in the industry in 61, it was very unpopular and was discontinued by the fall and winter of 62, thus you never see one.Electrolux and Rainbow used strap on PN cords for many years after this, Kenmore products were truly innovative. Tom has been a wonderful friend for many years and I am glad these 2 oddities are in the museum where everyone can see them,Tom sent me a 60 Kenmore Aurora and a first model, 60-63 Saniway, Thanks Tom.

Rare Kenmore for all to Adore

"Sears take on-CA-CB"--The Sears is mid 50s.The CA/CB are early/mid 60s.
"got-90-from Jimmy Martin"--And I got it from an estate auction at a nice frame house a few miles out in the country years ago.In the winter! It was so cold people would run the heater in their cars waiting for items they were interested in to come up.And in the basement/cellar there were at least 4 straight suction uprights(mostly Eureka)hanging from the floor joists. It looked like the aftermath of court with a hanging judge in the old west!
"Kenmore commercial"--NOT a commercial. This was one of the first and most deluxe of at least 5 different styles of canister KenKarts after the earlier tank versions. Some Sears of this era would offer extra house cleaning supplies such as blind attachments, dust cloths, etc.and this model would store them all.The super deluxe version of this one rolled into a wood storage cabinet and looked much like a sewing machine cabinet.
As above anyone could go to a Sears store or catalog and get a good vac with direct connect electric hose, power nozzle, cordwinder and more when many of the more expensive DTD vacs did not have these features at any price.

Once back in 1989,

we were on vacation in Ft. Lauderdale, and every morning were awakened by a Cuban or Guatemalan house keeper guy. "De clean, de clean"!!

That Lady Kenmore Whispertone that was yours, is flawless. I have the pink model 80 with matching pink power nozzle, at the Vacuum Museum. This model 90 with its pistol grip hose (I have the power nozzle already) is going to be displayed next to it.

The KenKart is the most amazing vacuum - I saw it more than 10 years ago at Mike Hays' home. I've never in my life seen another. Hans was VERY kind to make sure the Museum got it. It will be, of course, on permanent display for all to see, in the 1950's room.

Very Rare round KenKart model. One of the last of the Birtman-built KenKarts. Thanks to Alex Braun for this particular machine, which I had been lusting after for years until I wore him down and he made sure the Museum had it to display.

Kenmores!

Beautiful Kenmores there. Can't wait to go back to the musuem to try them out. Those are my favorite generation of Kenmores. I am lucky to have a couple from that time period. Congrats to Hans and Tom G. for the new machines they got. -Tyler

Kenmore sure made some interesting machines. Absolutely gorgeous and very practical.

I have that blue one with the shelves. I don't even remember where I got it long ago. We brought it up from the basement a few years ago when we had a mega meet here. It fired right up and has suction. My display rooms are maxed out so off to the basement it went. I can't imagine they sold well considering the bulk and weight.

lady Kenmore

Tom, is this similar to the Lady Kenmore you already have? I remember at the convention we couldn't do much with the lady kenmore you had because the bag was torn and you didn't have any more bags for it, does this model take the same bags? Love the sound of the Ametek motors those Kenmores used, I think the Eureka canned ham and Airway vacuums used a similar motor, all very pleasant sounding. The motors from Burtman Electric that were used in the KenKarts also had a very nice sound.

I made a lot of friends in the old VCCC, before leaving the club a decade ago. One of my good friends from the old club, Hans Craig, shared the original pistol grip electric hose for the Lady Kenmore Whispertone model 90, as well as a far better example of the actual machine itself. I received this model, complete with a new 5009 bag in it, plus two more. This one runs smooth and quiet. And, I don't know of another 1960 Kenmore pistol grip hose in existence.
