Awesome Kirby's

Love seeing all those Kirby's lined up. I have to agree the Dual 80 is one of my favorites. First new one I ever owned was a Classic in 1970, with all the tools. Actually used them all and cleaned carpets for friends, neighbors and family.
My Heritage 2 is the one I use as my daily driver. Just bought the carpet shampoo attachment and a turbo attach from
ebay. Waiting for it to appear at my door.

Great looking collection, and your D50 will look great with the talent you have for polishing. Do you use a buffer or just elbow grease?

Rick

Do you just do a final buffing dry with the wheels or do you apply tripoli and/or jewelers rouge?

you got a great deal on you d-50 too! you will love the way the kirby oval glows when it is on, it is soooo kool!, petek, i use a green compound first, red compound on any deep scratches, then i use a blue rouge with a softer wheel to take the very fine buffing scratches out. before i put it back together i wipe down with a very sooft rag (like t-shirt material) to get the access rouge off. it takes a little time but it is worth it!

Restored D50

My BF Michael restored a D50 last summer. He entered it in the "Best Original Machine" competition at the Omaha VCCC convention and took first prize.
The cleaner is absolutely stunning!
Here he is with his prize winning Kirby

I have the green and red rouges.. I'm just not quite sure how to do it properly. How much do you apply to the buffing wheels. I'm using a bench grinder with 8 inch pads. And do you go at it first with fine steel wool and metal polish

I love your dual santironic 80

The pic of your green dual sanitronic looks like it would be the perfect vacuum that the Oracle in "The Matrix" would have standing in her living room. I often wondered what type of vac she would have and where she would store it. Now, I know.In the Matrix .
