Looks like a mash-up of a 80s UK Electrolux and a US 1970s Sunbeam vac.

Hi Erik,
What you are seeing is indeed indirectly related to Sweden's AB Electrolux. At the start of the company's history, their vacs were sold door to door. At some point, Electrolux's direct sales division was spun off into a separate company called Lux International. The company is now based in Switzerland. AB Electrolux at the time of the spin off went solely to retailer sales. If you go to their website, you'll see that Lux International is a world-wide direct sales vacuum cleaner manufacturer. The main territory for the Lux company is Europe. But they joined up with a company called Forbes in India and the resulting Lux division is called Eureka-Forbes...not sure how AB Electrolux allowed them to use their brandname Eureka. That is why this Indian vac looks like an Electrolux...it's a Eureka-Forbes model sold by direct sales in South Asia. In Australia, their vacs are called Sauger. Most interesting is the fact that Aerus in North America is an "Associate Partner" of Lux International. That is how Aerus got their new Platinum canister: it is a Lux canister married to an Aerus power nozzle. In Europe, the canister is called the Lux Intelligence...search for it on youtube. See the website: luxinternational.com |

I have one , Its a carbon copy of the Electrolux z 345 except the motor.
It works well too exept the cord is pitifully to short. Their is also a cool thread about this machine from Sebofan and his trip to India. CLICK HERE TO GO TO gsheen's LINK

Lux was here in SA for a while but didnt make it, Here your vacuum market has changed allot, with most people having hard flooring now the vacuum market has shrunk especially for high priced vacuums. Kirby is still the strongest selling d2d vacuums with Rainbow and Voorwerk sharing the rest of that market. Thermax came here in the 90's with visions of taking the whole vacuum market by storm but a lackluster product and failing to understand the market meant that they left with their tail between their legs. I have a lux 1 aswell |
