Hey guys I just wanted to let you know about my latest dumpster find. So me and my aunt we're look at a couple of apt complexes at dumpsters. When we went to the last one we planned at the far back dumpster I found this Kirby G4. It said free on it, I was shaking so bad. all it needed was a safety pin and a piece of cardboard removed from the rug nozzle housing and a new belt and it works wonderfully, This is my 2nd G4.

I used to find all kinds of cool stuff at my apartment complex's dumpsters, including my first Kirby Gsix. The best picking came at the end of the month when people were moving. That's about the only thing I really miss about apartment living. I bought a house a couple of years ago and I had to turn my gate card when I moved out of the apartment, so no more access to those particular dumpsters.

Oh yes, apartment house living-remember some of the trash room finds-mostly TV's would fix them and sell them.Remember one Hoover DAM-its motor was blown-so saved the cord. The apratments I used to live in were high rises-each floor had a trash room. The main trash room-dumpster room was on the ground floor-this was the most frequent place for "goodies" Found a recliner chair there-it wore out-so I put it back in the trash room a few years later.

The handle still had the ORIGINAL PLASTIC FILM! I'm so happy, I will remove the film after I polish the metal on the handle.

Moving and Dumpsters

Dumpsters aren't the only place to find treasures End of month or Beginning of month due to people moving.  That is also when donations to thrift stores are up.

There is a DVA Thrift store by McConnell AFB that is always well stocked from military personnel that are being transferred or shipped out.  Some items are brand new still in packages usually wedding gifts that couldn't be moved.

Vacuums are usually plastic throw aways, but did find a Royal commercial once.  Small kitchen appliances are abundant.  Same with sheets.  Not at all unusual to find new sheets in the package for $1 each.

I found a Royal Commercial upright in the appliance dumpster out my way-the trash site operator was upset that I took it.If he wanted it-HE should have taken it.I left the bag though, was soaked from rain.Put one of my Grey dump bags on it-it fine!!Needs more cleanup work and a cord-but the machine ran OK.
