Hello. I have a Dirt Devil Featherlite plus model number 085550 in light green as seen by the picture below. I can't seem to get the motor casing open. I have removed the screws but it still won't come off. Please Help!

I ran into the same problem

I had a similar problem when I was rebuilding one of these. Make sure the rubber gasket at the top of motor housing is removed. Also on the side where the suction fan is and where the belt shaft is there are black plastic rings that go over each side. Another thing to pay close attention to is the manufacturers label generally goes right over the top of part of the Motor housing were two pieces come apart. I had to take a small razor blade And slit the sticker (trying to save as much a possible from getting torn) to get the housing to come apart. It does have a pretty good seal and you may have to pull it hard but it will come apart if all screws are out. The fan housing on these machines have a pretty tight seal as well. Hope this helps. I have a featherlite in blue that the motor bearings had seized and once I took everything apart and greased it up it runs perfectly. These machines actually clean carpet pretty well. I attached a pic of a few of my favorite Dirt Devils in my collection
