You need a stretched out F & G style belt - one that has no cuts but has been used and lost its elasticity. Those work perfectly well for the older vintage Hoovers. A vac shop should be easily able to help you out with that.

And I always thought F & G related to bags not belts.

Does anyone know why there were two letters instead of one like most of the other bag designations?

I wonder the same thing about the Eureka E/R bags.

Eureka F & G bags

At one time there was a Style F AND a Style G bag.One was for vinyl bag uprights and the other for cloth bag models. These were combined to use one bag for all Eureka uprights. Not sure of E & R unless one was for hand vac and the other for broom.
(Hoover had a Style B bag that was combined with A and now mostly forgotten.)

Hoover 61 belt

While a eureka rd belt will work, you could always use a genuine Hoover 44783ag...the belt designed for the pre-convertible cleaners...they use them in the lightweight commercial cleaners. They're still readily available and last forever. Here's a link to them on usavacuum.com www.usavacuum.com/SearchResults.a...

Happy Hoovering!
