The model should be listed on the bottom

You call it the Senior. We call it the Convertible. You call the Dial-A-Matic the Convertible. It has the Ranger style hood. Turn it over and see the model number.
Hope this helps.

I had a little look underneath and couldn't find anything. So you know where it would be exactly?? X

The rating plate may well be missing as this looks very much like a cleaner which has been refurbished. If original the whole cleaner would be two shades of green, with the only white part being the flex. It is hard to say from your photo if the hood of the cleaner has been painted - it looks a funny shade of green. Also the flex hooks are not the original.

Value wise, that comes down to who wants it, but you won't get much money for it as these cleaners were very popular and show up on ebay all the time, often (I am sorry to say) in better condition than yours.

You can see one in this video here:

Its actually a Hoover Ranger. It is based on the Hoover Senior under the redesigned hood. Same one featured on the UK Shake n Vac advert. Rating plate - I think - could be located on the right hand side of the sole plate where the brush roll is located - if the vacuum cleaner is turned over. Could be U4014 from 1979

Sorry Benny didn't see your post there - also Welcome to the forum, Sherianne!

Also, there are plenty of threads about the Hoover Ranger on here but best to Google with the name plus vacuumland; a great archive thread can be found here (click on link).

Wow you're all so knowledgeable! Thank you everyone.

Watching the Shake and Vac advert made me smile from ear to ear!

And you're right, it is quite a lot beaten up. But it has so much history, and has been made infamous in THE Shake & Vac advert!

And after all she works perfectly well.

I think I may keep her. 😬😍
