Hey guys I just wanted to tell you guys about my latest gem. My Kirby heritage 2. She runs very smooth but it must have not been used since around 2001ish because it's really dusty like it was in storage. It's really nice I'm in love. I went to goodwill and saw it and I decided nah I don't want it for $20. But I had second thoughts so I went back an hour and half later and I got it. And I got half off! That's right $10! That's because the employees know me as the vacuum boy so I got it half off and I'm so glad because it's run so smooth and AMAZING

Nice machine. That was my first kirby and my first vacuum in my collection several years ago.

Hi can someone tell me how to get the emptor off in a video please I can't figure it out as this is my first Kirby and let alone be the 2nd Kirby I have ever touched

If you are behind the machine looking at the emptor it twists counter clockwise off.

Nice catch!

Good job grabbing that for a ten spot! I had a Heritage 1 that my ex-girlfriend borrowed and never gave back after she pitched her Oreck in the dumpster. I kinda miss it but I have too many vacuum cleaners around here to worry too much about it much.

Congrats! Your machine will clean up beautifully. I just put a new headlight lens assembly on mine today. I wish I had the Heritage II label for my Belt Lifter.

Hey guys I'm thinking of not polishing this beauty up because of the history behind it but then again I am thinking of polishing it. Opinions? What should I do? :/

Shine that baby up!!!

Kirbys are so pretty when they're all shined up; it's almost a shame not to do it.

Polish that baby up!!!

Get yourself some Mother's aluminum polish and microfiber cloths sold at most automotive stores and Walmart.

Steel wool

human's profile picture
You can use very fine steel wool (#000 or #0000) with the Mother's polish and get some decent results, although it won't take out deep scratches. I got my G5 up to a sort of satiny sheen from that 'dead lead' look with a wet paste of Barkeeper's Friend and water on a shop towel, then followed it up with Mother's. The Barkeeper's Friend almost instantly got rid of the oxidation and then the more I rubbed it, the shinier it got, up to a certain point. One of these days when I get a little free time--like that will ever happen--I may go back and work on it some more.
