I have been restoring a 1993 Tristar CXL. Like most of these I have found the plastic Tristar badge was chipped and in 2 pieces, but at least it was complete. I have painted it with Krylon premium metallic original chrome paint, using several light coats. It looks pretty good but even after letting it dry for a couple of days it takes thumbprints where I have carefully pushed it in. Has anybody had experience and success with this?

If you are very careful, you could try the thin adhesive backed foil sheets

Chrome Bare Metal Foil is one of the better brands:

Awesome idea Sven. I will do that to my Eureka Vibra-Beat.

I would also consider going to a craft store, seeing if they have the gilding sets in silver. If your logo is still sticky, that would be perfect because you could skip the adhesive that comes with the kit. You could also wipe the logo clean and start over, making sure to wipe it clean with 91% alcohol (to make sure it sticks).

I found a cool company here in Cape Town that specializes in chroming plastic, Its almost like that water printing you see U tube,

I am sure if you do a google search you will find a company local to you that does it.

They tend to specialize in small items like car trim and badges so they have no problem doing small vacuum badges or Chrome plastic Hoods

As Gareth says, plastic can be sent out and re-plated. Guys into classic car restoration have been having it done by small specialty shops for many years. If authenticity is important to you then it's an option well worth considering.
