Okay I figured out what kind of a cleaner my vacuum is can anyone dig up anything on it, info, pics, production years? Also where can I get a hose for it? I threw the old one out because it was hard and cracked

Can you post a picture of it? Unless I'm mistaken 5023 is the bag style and it was used in alot of machines.

I opened the hood on it and it said
-Canister 186
and the model number is 116.21860
its a blue and white canister and its a magicord cleaner with the old sears logo on it

I believe the one you are talking about is either this machine or the one with the attachments all going in the front. This picture is from the 1971 Simpson Sears Christmas Catalogue. The 1971 Fall and Winter catalogue also lists the other versions of this machine but all the pictures are in black and white. Incidentally it says the color was Wedgwood Blue.

Its letter B, same color too, I dont know where to get a new hose for it. Also How can I get stains off of the vacuum and parts, could bleach work since they are white?

hose with out the power nozzle

you should have kepet the old hose because a new hose could have ben added to the old ends. but vac shops can get a replacement hose still. last time I called sears you could still get a electrick hose new too.

As for cleaning it... mine was a disaster when I picked it up but as usual the miracl of a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser brought it back to near new looking, they work especially well on the rubber bumpers etc getting those black smudges off that even sprays like Fantastik won't touch.

Hi Pete:

The Blue was replaced by the green in 72. Here's my green one.

That's the more deluxe version of mine.. I just posted a pic of it in the other thread of my latest vac finds.

Is yours a green or a greyish color? The grayish was just before the blue if I remember correctly. I'd have to look it up to be certain.
