Now how often do you come accross one of these?!!!

A good friend of mine gave me this Model G electric hose to add to my collection while I was in St. Louis this past week. I also found the wall brushes that match as well.

Here is how the PN-1 connects to the hose. Very strange...

What a great find, Logan. I've only ever seen one of those original Model G electric hoses. I was told by an Electrolux oldtimer that they were introduced too early, not enough trouble-shooting, and were a flop. So they went back to the external-cord hose and did more R&D, eventually coming up with a better design during the run of the 1205. Quite a rare gem to be sure!! btw the red tracing was added to distinguish the electric hoses from the standard ones, lest salesmen in the field mix them up/

I thought you would be enchanted with that Universal 99 there. And it wouldn't be a Crevicetool post without a stale joke-I mean such wonderful humor!

Hey Logan,

You didn't by any chance get this hose from Andy Weter, did you? I visited him at his store last January, and got a good look through the entire place from top to bottom. Somehow I overlooked that beautiful hose. I have always wanted to see one of those, as I have only heard of them before. Very interesting indeed, and certainly a rare one. Congrats on your find.

Evan

Hey Evan,

Tom was nice enough to gift me that hose. He had two of them, so I am very thankful that he gifted this one to me. With the addition of the floor brush that Andy gave me, my Model G is now complete.

I had NEVER seen one before and was actually quite skeptical that Electrolux made an electric hose for the Model G. I would love to see the other one that matches the brown Model G. I'm sure I will someday.

P.S. I went through Andy's store from top to bottom too (I told him I was very nosey but he didn't mind) and I had a blast. He has some cool stuff.

Logan,

Great find! I have never seen a hose like that before. Charlie thank you for the explaination! At first I thought it may have been a Canadian version.

Another fabulous peice of our vacuum history saved!!!

Yes, Charlie I agree with Morgan on thinking it was canadian. As I too had never seen an Electric G hose !

LOL - I think the first electric hose that Electrolux introduced in Canada was in 1968 for the model 89. It caught on so well that by 1970 it was standard equipment.

Logan, that is so awesome! Like many others I had no idea such a thing existed either for the G. Interesting grip and great colors!

Does anyone know if the earliest 1205s had hoses with outside cords, or did they start out with the cordless ones?

I'm glad you had a great trip and are home safe, and I'll drop you a line in a bit! Scott

The floor brushes are new to me too

I forgot to mention, I didn't realize that floor brushes of that type were offered at that time, I thought they only had the reversible ones then. I am guessing those only came in the white bristle, probably intended for hardwood floors and such? Cool!

While Sandy McLendon can weigh in more full on the 1205, I can tell you that the earliest version still had a hose with a wrap-around power nozzle cord.

I was very surprised to read above that there apparently was also an electric hose for the Tan G. Because what I was told by a long-term Electrolux man, who started selling them in 1959 with the Model F, that an electric hose was offered as an option for the Model G.

He said the electric hose was prone to failure and was a big flop, so they were all recalled and replaced with standard hoses, and the designers went back to the drawing board -- not coming up with a new and successful design until quite some time after the 1205 had come out.

Thus, to find a Model G electric hose is QUITE a big deal -- there are just not any of them around. I'll bet most of you will never see one in your lifetime. I have seen one, actually touched it --- OOOOH, AHHH! --- a former collector (and former friend, but that's another story) Back East has one.
