I had a great time yesterday at the musuem. I learned so much from Tom and got to see so many amazing vacuums. Tom is an excellent host and is full of knowledge. I encourage everyone to goto the musuem at one point or another. My girlfriend also seemed to enjoy it and a big thank you to her for supporting me. Another big thank you to Tacony and the biggest of all to Tom Gasko for the museum. I am coming home with some awesome machines that I can't wait to get all shined up. This is an amazing experience. I especially love the twin motor Air-Ways :-) Already looking forward to my next visit. I will share some pictures when I get home!

Early central vacuum?

Is that one in the photo? The Firestone mansion in Akron had one of the first.

Looks like I have a MUSEUM and NOWHERE to put it!!

Great pictures. The displays and vacs just keep looking better with each new set of pictures.Glad you made the trip.Tom also knows as much as anyone as to what vac with what nozzle will remove which dirt from every surface and rug.
There is hardly anything here that I do not have the same or similar or have sold in recent years(I think I see at least 1 former item above). It is easier to list what I do not have--the oldest Elux & Hoover,ArcoWand & Dysons. The simple fact is almost everything else I have in my building,BUT my building is NOT and WILL NOT be a museum.Because of this and other reasons most of my 'museum'without the place to put it needs to GO.SOON!THIS YEAR!!I will continue putting many interesting items on EBay(next is 5 different Johnson's Wax polishers,Westinghouse & more).Others need to go to collectors, scrap yard or dumpster. If any here have a place to put a museum or want to start or add to a collection start letting me know!

Hey Jimmy!! I'm still interested in the square Hamilton Beach in yellow and white with a hose if you have one. Please let me know and let's work something out. Thanks so much, Toby G.

Museum(less) Vacs

Tyler/Andy-As they say on the Price is Right,'Come on Down'but be aware that there will be days before, during or after Easter that I will be out of town.I should have many Sears in much better order(just found 2 early electric hoses without curved end)and Elux in somewhat better order(have many polishers/rug washers & CBs).
Toby-I do not "have one".I have three!I need to keep 1 or 0.Best way is for collectors or others in your region to pick up(and choose others!)in person.Or I can place on the counter at nearby UPS and you pay packing, materials & shipping after I find out how good and complete they may be at a reasonable price.
I will have more separately and later. With many brands ALL or most will GO including-Viking,Vorwerk,Sunbeam,Silver King,Regina,Singer,Fantom,Bissell, etc.

for the Metro 2000 Upright vacuum. In the early 1980's, Metropolitan (rebuilders of Elux machines that were sold in catalogs like Spiegel) imported an upright, made by Hitatchi. It is very rare, especially since the plastic was fragile. I don't know anyone else who has one. This machine is in excellent condition, Tyler gave me to the tools as well as bags. Thanks again Tyler for this amazing addition to the Vacuum Cleaner Museum's collection. Enjoy that Singer and that Kenmore, as well as the electric hose for your blue PowerMate model. Your girlfriend has the patience of a saint to endure all the vacuum talk. And she's very pretty to boot.

This pic is Tyler with the Metro 2000 upright vacuum.

vacuum museum

Yes, the museum iss awesome for sure. I'm a blind person, so I can't drive, and my girl friend and I drove down there last August for my birthday. It was awesome. I'm much more of a canister person than upright, got to see some awesome canisters for sure. I enjoyed seeing the Electrolux models, one unique one was the Ken Cart which was an old Kenmore model, the 1950's brought us lots of nice canisters, Eureka made some nice ones, there was an Airway that was designed to stand in the middle of the room while you cleaned around it, and let's not forget the Sunbeam canister. That machine actually takes around 10 seconds to fully turn off. In the 1960's, you really saw the difference in power between the beginning and end of the decade. There was a 1960 Kenmore and a 1969 Kenmore that was quite a bit more powerful. Kenmore had some great canisters back then. I can't remember which one it was, but there was one vacuum that had an electrical problem and it would electrocute people holding the hose, wonder how many people were zapped by that one.

Tom

Thank you for the vacuums and I'm glad to see the Metro go too a good home. It's great to have support for the vacuums. I'm still interested in that Air-Way. I also have the genuine bags for the metro as well. Thank you for having us. I had a blast!!
