I was in a Home Depot today near Philadelphia and saw the new Floormate/steam mop. They were left over from a Black Friday deal. I bought 4, and told one of my students.  He and his wife went there and got 2.  I went back on my way home and bought the rest.  They were surprised.  The clerk actually sold me the "display" w/o a box.... for $10.00

Because of this,  I'm donating one to the Convention RAFFLE.  I've already compiled a few "choice items".

I hope others consider contributing raffle items.  I'm including several NEW items as well as a few good, but seasoned ones.

  {Pics soon}.

re; Hoover floor mate

John, are they the deluxe models?
Walmart sells the standard (all light grey) version for $129.99 I got my Deluxe (green/grey) on sale at Meijer shortly after they came out for that.
The do an excellent job, professor? Or, even if you teach high school, their futures are greatly influenced by you.

They are very good ones. I'll post pics soon. They were a steal. I asked the sales person if it really was that price.
I taught elementary school for 23 years. I taught at a university too, The Peabody Institute in Baltimore...the country's oldest music school. Now, I teach adults in a college. I also still teach performing arts in Philly... I taught thousands of children, now, adults. For a while, I also taught blind children. It was very difficult.

As far as these Hoovers: I was definitely in the right place at the right time. Everybody is getting a Hoover for Christmas, lol.

Everybody?

John, Do you need my address?

That was a good find.  Maybe I had better check my local Home Depot for sales.

I had a 3 hour break between classes.

gottahaveahoove's profile picture

I usually do my routine 'scans', the bank, post office, maybe a haircut, get the car serviced,  "2nd Avenue" {thrift}, Impact! {thrift}, THe Depot and/or Lowe's, then my last classes for the day, before returning home.  I got my stainless steel miocrowave there (a dismanteled kitchen display... $400.00 oven for $100.   UHUH

I've picked up tiles, etc there.  I was looking at refeigerators...passed this aisle,  saw all of these HOOVERS.  Next to them was a little red "Dirt Devil".. I believe it's still there. I loaded 4 HOOVERS into the car,  and went n my way. After mentioning this to my last students of the night,  "Dave" said to "June",  "We should go over there".    When I locked up the school,  I thought, "Maybe I should too".  There were only  2 left:1 was the floor model ."Wow, these things have been flying outta here today", said the cashier.  I replied, "Really"?  hmmmmmm

John,

I have not seen those around here yet.
I was thinking you had spin scrub floor mates.
Do these do any above the floor cleaning?
Nice that they have a carpet floater.

I saw a Polti steam cleaner on QVC, and they were saying it has the best steam boiler on the market.
I don't know, since I had a Bissel that I paid over $100 for which lasted just a few years, I don't think I'll try another. Just my personal opinion. I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying one.
I liked it for cleaning the bath fixtures, the gas range grates, and cook top, but to tell you the truth, it left streaks on my floors, and marble fireplace hearth.

Thanks, David.

The man who did that bathroom was a house builder.. a real craftsman. The house withstood a coal mine subsidence in 1942, creating massive damage in the area. That bathroom was 4 inches off square. (And, 4 inches can make the world of difference, as we know).
He worked very hard to make that bathroom perfect, especially when working with tile, and, he took out the ceiling in there, now, it has a 15'height. I told my sister, when I die, wake me in there, lol. She just might!!
That steamer is very nice. i have 3 of the other ones, the blue ones....never used.
John

Old homes

have timeless appeal and good bones. Especially when their owners care for them so lovingly to keep them traditional.
