I have had this vacuum for about a year. All of a sudden the motor is very loud. I don't know why this is. Still picks up wonderfully, but I feel like I've been at a KISS concert for four hours after I use it...lol. Any ideas??? It's the first Hoover I have ever bought. Very disappointed..

it is possible for the motor fans to be dirty and off balance, or bad bearings.

Washing the filter regularly

Did you wash the filter regularly? Bissells can get very loud because people never wash the filters, and a ton of the dust gets sucked into the motor, ruining the bearings or clogging up the fans and causing excessive noise and vibration. Aren't those machines usually pretty quiet?

I thought it was a Hoover this member was referring to, not a Bissell? They're not all the same are they?

Sorry about referring to Bissell

I just used that as an example of how motors can get loud because of dirt. Aren't the HOOVER machines pretty quiet?
