I knew the Kirby heritage II lifting a VW was real.

Lifting anything with sealed suction isn't a demonstration of cleaning ability. A tire pump could life a bowling ball IF you put a broad enough funnel onto the end of the hose first, so it would cover a broad area of the bowling ball. Like in the old Oreck ads for the hand held vacuum.

Agreed ^

If you don't believe what Tom said, then get a vacuum with a hose (no airflow holes-block them) and put something suckable on your hand and cover it with the vacuum hose

Switch the vacuum on and then off after a few seconds. I bet you the object is still there

What do we learn from this? Airflow is important.

wasn't the VW Kirby lifted full of ball bearings, too?so that would add to the weight!Remember when they shut off the Kirby-the VW fell and ball bearings spilled out and rolled all over the test scene!

When my parents bought the TriStar CXL (when it was still brand new) I did that with their Ford Granada & Ford Maverick

They put hundreds of half pound steel balls in the vw to really bring the Kirby to the challenge and the Kirby still could suck the car up with the crane
