Hi everyone! I picked up a Electrolux LX Friday and while cleaning it, found a loose wire. I had taken off the back cover to clean out some debris and noticed a single loose wire hanging down from what looked like a ground nut. I took my other machine apart to see if I could find where that wire went. Seemed to come from a cylindrical tube held on by a clip to a motor "strut". It has 2 wires in one end and looks like the loose wire is supposed to be hooked to the other end.

Problem is, I don't know how to re-attach it. What is that part and is it necessary? See the attached photos.

Can someone help me with the part id. and how to re-attach the wire?

That part is a noise suppressor filter, it was very popular on vacuums in that era, it reduced static on TV's and radios. You can leave it connected, just attach the loose wire to the stud where the mounting nut goes.

Thanks Vacman1969

I wondered if that was it's function. I used to collect vintage food mixers and remember Sunbeam Mixmasters had one.

Glad it is not critical to it's function.
