Looking at new 1028Z and 1030Z on a website but know these must be old stock as Royal now has the 51 series such as CR5128Z, CR5130Z which are 10 amp. Would rather have the 8 amp 1028 or 1030.

Anyone know how long the 1028 and 1030 have been discontinued and replaced with the 51 series?

Also, debating between the screw adjust and the five-position set up. Have read that some prefer the infinite screw and others the foot pedal- any recommendations? House has three different carpet levels. I have used the screw before but no experience with the foot pedal models.

Appreciate your help.

The foot pedal machines don't have the height flexibility the dial machines have. And their foot pedal system can change height when the machine is bumpted. The dial ones don't do that. And the dial ones seem to be more sturdy.

Royal also has or had an infinite foot pedal height adjuster. I have a Royal Everlast 8300 which has the infinite foot pedal height adjuster and I love it.

My previous Royal 880 had the infinite screw knob which was a pain because different carpet types and belt/brushroll wear require you to bend over often and twist the knob for the proper airflow and suction. With the infinite foot pedal it is so much easier to frequently adjust nozzle height.

My brand new Royal Pro Elite doesn't have the infinite height pedal. Its a good vacuum,though-like it anyway.Going to look for my Royal upright hose and see how it does with my MD central vac unit.Kirby loves being paired with it!!
