Hi everyone,

I recently bought a Hoover Convertible Model 65 on eBay, and it's not in the best cosmetic shape by any means. The first one, really, that I have had to do a complete teardown on in order for it to clean up well. Thankfully, the motor is in excellent shape under the "cake" of dirt, though I will definitely lubricate the lower bearing before I run the machine.

The only problem I'm having is with the "bojack" DVC outer bag it came with. I really don't care for the off-white color, but it would otherwise be fine for my needs, except the zipper is literally falling apart. I can only close it about 5 inches from the base.

Now I know Model 65 bags are few and far between these days, but does anyone out there have a good alternative bag, that would go well with the colors on the machine, they would like to sell? Please let me know as I would really appreciate it.

I'll be starting an "update" thread later on this week with some other machines. Thanks to the generosity of Tom Anderson, the agitators in my 1020 and U1025 are operating like new!

Genuine Convertible outer Bag

You can go to an authorized Hoover service dealer and they can order one for you. I just bought one several months ago for a Convertible, Model 714. It is light beige so they can't guarantee the color you want but the upside is that you are getting a genuine Hoover replacement part.

Austin...you have a nice looking 65 there. I am sure that you will find an outer bag that you will be happy with soon. I look forward to seeing the other Hoover cleaners soon in pictures. I am glad that you could get them going again with some new bearings.

Skip...what a groovy bag on your 65...very cool!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. That's my machine in the picture that David posted, and the picture does it LOTS of justice!

Cleaned more parts today. All that's left now is to give the base & hood a bath, and replace the (ugly, black, long, 3-wire) cord with a white one. I'll be calling the Hoover store tomorrow and ordering a bag. And thanks Skip for your offer. If the store doesn't carry them, I'll let you know.

Hey Tom actually that was the bag on the Hoover 65 I won from Chuck Chatham and I had one given to me by a seller that took a long time to get a vacuum that I won from him so he gave me a 65 and What I did I took the 65 from Chuck and took the bag off the free 65 and put it on the one from Chuck. The free one had the original 65 bag on it, so with the 2 of them I made one original in pretty mint condition. Here is the picture of my Hoover 65 that One I'm keeping

like this, austin. if you have a choice remember, type A bags hold more, BUT, type C bags are super-cheap and a steal on eBay! i sent you an email, Austin. we can also look through the Hesco catalogue.
