Here you go. The kirby 3C after a quick clean and polish.
Still needs quite a bit of work.
Hope to finish it once the weather warms up a bit.

I don't think its come up to bad for a quick once over but still a fair way to go.
What do you think??

james

Hey James!

It's looking great! As I've said before, I love the early Kirby machines, I might try and get hold of one myself at some point. I particularly like the Model C - what a beautiful machine! I love the little scroll-like headlamp.

I know what you're going through with the polishing; I'm currently working through my pre-war Hoovers at the moment - I have 17 of them in my room, getting about 2 done a day! But more on that, and other news, later... ;)

Hi Mr Jack!!

kirbymodel2c's profile picture
You must be busy if you can polish 2 a day.
I just have to do it as and when depending on the weather.

I can polish them more often by hand quickly to keep them topped up but have to wait for a good day to use my polisher.

I gave my spare model C free to my friend james down south.
In fact I give most of my spare bits to him to help give me space;-))

Let us know when you want to spill your other news!!;-))

Off to bed now work tomorrow.:-))

Hi Terry,
For polishing my kirby's from when I get them I use my bench grinder I got from my friend who is(or was) a kirby distributor.
With a commpound/s and for a quick polish once that has been done just to keep them looking good I use Autosol.

Arr mr Seamus.
Hope your ok.You never know when when you might be getting the royal call to visit my kirby's:-))

As for the Sentria Vs G6 thread Iv'e seen it.
If you get me started I'll find it hard to stop;-))

But the Sentria is the better kirby
For proformance and durability.
Sentria handles are better built I'v never geard of one snapping.
Sentria and G sixs brush rolls are different. Mind you so are the Ultimate Gs and the sentria.
So yes the sentria is the better kirby.
But I do love the Gsix as that's what I was demoing when I was in kirby and I do like the color black on a kirby.

And "ANY" kirby is better than the mordern plastic junk on the market!! Hay Ho!!

over and out:-))

You're the expert, James!

My critique of the Sentria was, as I mentioned, based on other people's experiences, not my own. I stick by what I said about the headlamps, though, and I think it's a shame if any of the parts of the Sentria are, in fact, less well-made than on older models. I don't deny it's a very cool-looking machine, and if I was going on looks alone, I'd go for the Sentria!

James, I always enjoy looking at your Kirby's. I have never seen the whole picture for real. Wish you were closer to Ohio. So I could drive to see them in person!

Thanks James, I think that I really need to find a bench grinder. I love the finish you achieve on your machines. Terry

Hi,

Hi Norm.
If you ever come on vacation to the UK you could come and see them if you was in the area.

Hi Terry,

Yep get a bench grinder with good quality mops and compound.

Hi Jack.
From what I can tell the sentria is still built to the same high quality as its older counter parts.
When you look at the handle side on it is thicker than the G series.
Best thing they have done is re design the bottom cord hook and made it thinker as that was the weak spot on the G series with people snapping them off.

Uummm I still prefur the new light.
As you don't have to replace it like you do with those small G series bulbs.
Also the new LEDs are more energy saving.

I got the new handi butler for the sentria the other day it looks great.
Don't think I will use it. As I don't want to get it dirty;-))
