A recent eBay listing shows what appears on the outside to be a Filter Queen 350, but the model number says 500. Would it be reasonable to suppose that a FQ 500 motor has been placed inside a 350 shell? If that's what's happened, could there be any problems down the road? I'm tempted but am not sure what to expect from this sort of "blend."

The 350 and 500 are nearly identicle in appearance, the only noticable difference being the color. Both machines have hammertone finishes, but the 500 is a gold color while the 350 is more of a pale bronze? I don't know how else to describe that color. Anyways, the model number appears on a recesed fitting on the top of the tank that is not part of the motor. So even if the motor was borrowed from another machine there'd be no reason to move that fitting. Do you have a photo of the machine in question?

d-jones, the photos in the listing make the FQ look bronze rather than gold, which is what's throwing me off. Here's the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Filter-Q...

The machine in the listing IS a model 500. The dirt container latches go all the way to the dolly (the model 350 latches do not). Also, the Golden Monarch (which the ebay listing IS) had a different motor than the model 350. It would be very hard to interchange them.

The listing appears to be an actual Golden Monarch model 500 (in fairly poor shape).

This pic is of My model 500 Golden Monarch complete with original parts - for reference.

Thanks for the clarification, dysonman1! The photos were a bit murky, at least on my monitor, so I couldn't tell whether the machine was gold or bronze. Your 500 is exemplary, by the way; congratulations on having such a beautiful Filter Queen!
