I found this Legacy, probably from the '80a, which is in awesome shape from what I can tell so far. I've never owned an Elite-style Hoover this old before and was intrigued. The Quik-Broom II is also in pretty decent shape and works well too. The Quik-Broom is going to one of my best friends HooverBoy81 because he told me it was identical to one that he used to have and he had been looking for another one. I'll probably play around with the Legacy for a while though lol.

Doing A Complete Cleaning Of The Legacy

vintagevaclover's profile picture
This thing must have been used to clean a construction site, it's completely clogged with drywall dust.

Glad you were able to get them and "save" them from the regular consumer that would tear them up even more. They both should clean up well.

Very True OhioVac!

This is what I found inside the Legacy unfortunately. I have completely put it back together and it runs like new now.

Is that a LEGACY 730!!!

That is an awesome find with the Legacy! The Legacy 730's are very uncommon, as most consumers probably just bought a model with tools on board. Please post after pictures of the Legacy! So glad you could save it.

I most certainly S_Matt37!!!

And yes, It is a Legacy 730. I have the hose and all of the tools as well. It's an excellent cleaner and I love the colour scheme, sooo '80s lol. Other than the motor being wrecked (I put in a new Elite motor) it's in amazing condition!

You should post a nice YouTube of the Legacy.

I picked up a Quik Broom like that this summer at Goodwill except mine's hunter green and goes by the name of "Quik Broom Supreme". I'm not sure what makes it supreme, but it does an excellent job of picking up stray cat litter and that's really about all it's good for. A broom and a dustpan do a better job of cleaning the vinyl and wood floors.

Although I overpaid for it, I'm convinced that it would have otherwise ended up in the dumpster because the nozzle foot was completely clogged when I got it. I had to totally disassemble it to get all the gunk out. I don't think many other people would have bothered with it.

Thank you all!!!

S_Matt37, I can't believe I found it either, especially at ReStore of all places lol.

Human, I love that Quik-Broom, I have another one in navy blue too. The red one is going to a dear friend that has been looking for it for a while.

GottahaveaHoover, thank you so much, that rug is a cashmere Persian rug that my grandparents brought back from the Middle East in the 1960s, I've had it for years and it's one of my favourite rugs.

I can certainly

see why. I LOVE good rugs. I have them allover this old place.And.... (big surprise)... they always get cleaned with "The HOOVER". I can SEE people rolling their eyes, lolol. But, it's true. There is a Chinese rug here (my late great aunt's), bought in the 1930s..... has ONLY been cleaned with Hoovers. The HOOVER Company is interested in that story. I'll soon post pics of all the DIFFERENT models that have been used on it over the decades.
John

That would be awesome John!😊

I'd love to see pics of some of the rugs too, you have a beautiful home as I've seen from pics in verious threads. As far as I know, the rugs I've inherited have only been cleaned with Hoovers as well. My family has always been a Hoover family (on both sides! Lol). I have occasionally used a non-Hoover on them before but it's pretty rare. And I wouldn't worry about people rolling their eyes, they just haven't figured it out yet! Lolol

never was a Hooverphile here? Nobody in the family had any growing up. Their uprights I find pretty hard to beat for agitation and airflow in my live at home uses anyway. I have a concept 1, a decade 80 and Legacy, all three will deep clean very easily. I think the concept may take the cake of them. That decade 80 can really thump the floor though! Light, fairly affordable deep carpet cleaners, not bad. Yes I have a Royal and a Kirby.

Almost always Electrolux and Kenmore in my family, but now its disposable crap. A few hoovers back in the day, but we were an Electrolux Dominant family

That Concept 1 is from 1992, one of the very last made. It was either a K-Mart or Sears exclusive. The funny thing about that one is that it doesn't have the Quadraflex agitator. It's a pretty decent cleaner though.

Concept One

I thought it was a lot later, mainly because it sure doesn't look like it's from the 70's! I saw a newer one in a thrift store, and it looked very similar to that. Wish they still used the Quadraflex in their newer vacuums.

I really wish they had kept using the Quadraflex too. I feel like it definitely does a better job. Also, notice how it says "Self-Propelled" instead of "POWER DRIVE".
