WEll, Halloween is the date for the minimeet this year. sadly, Joe Kassock, Mike Gravelin, and Greg Fildess cannot make it, due to work, location, family committments.
There might be around 6-8 people. Thee pumpkins are all coming out, etc... although, the place is spooky enough year round. Italian dinner......etc. It should be a fun time,as usual. Pics will follow. "BOO!". John |

Regrettably, I'm not going to be able to make this one, John. I've recently begun singing with our Band during our late service: on top of that, I'm now in charge of the sound for BOTH services!
I do hope to be able to make one of your gatherings after the New Year: meantime, best wishes to all of you for a most enjoyable Halloween weekend!

cookies. THey are always a hit around here.
Dinner will be Italian, along with some "devilled eggs"... will, it IS Halloween! Some snacks, etc..served in very 'festive' dishware. I'm decorating the whole place as usual. I'm even putting 'vintage' "blow mold" pumpkin lamps in the front windows. Pics will follow shortly. And, Rob, did someone mention "FONDUE"????????? Got the cheese, the HOOVER fondue pot, and...... bread pieces might come from a pastry 'casket'. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh John . |

Wish I could be there. Had thought maybe I would. But....... checked the airfare and it is prohibitive at this time and my garbage disposal died and my stove died. Been kind of expensive couple of weeks. And, my car was sideswiped in a WalMart parking lot. Hit and run has left me with a lot of details to sort out. A bad case of bronchitis has kept me worn out for a few weeks now, too. The only good part about that is recuperating in the sunny Florida weather.
I'll think of you all that night. Joining some friends for a Halloween get-together.
Have a wonderful time. Love to John and all!

A great time was had by all! It was certainly nice to see a few friends that I haven't seen in several months!
My only regret is that I arrived later in the day than usual. I'll have to leave my house earlier so I can run more vacuums at Johns!! I didn't even to get to run the gorgeous navy blue JC Penney that John thought of to put on the stairwell for me. But busy times are ahead and then Christmas will be right around the corner. The Christmas MiniMeet I'll have to run some more vacuums. I've always been a power nozzle canister lover but suddenly I'm getting into uprights more yet I only have 1 upright in my collection. I just haven't heard the sound or used a 4.8 or 6.5 Amp machine from Hoover with that distinguishing Hoover sound in quite a while. So come Christmas I'll have to see what John wants to take out. Perhaps a Hoover Heavy Duty, Decade or not sure if you have one John, but I've been intrigued by pictures on the internet of the Convertible 700 with that burgundy hood! One of those looks fun to try. I'm also thoroughly in the mood to run and someday own a 15" Hoover Widepath/ Breathe Easy machine similar to the one attached below. Green, red, navy blue any one would be intriguing. Especially if it has a navy blue brush roll which I found on a tan colored Breathe Easy years ago. I refurbished a U5248-930 that had this gorgeous navy blue bristled agitator I had never seen before. The tan on the vacuum is only fair to me but the blue brush roll I loved! But I found that vacuum years ago to refurb and resell and that's what I did. Of course Murphy made his presence later in the evening! He was nodding in approval of the house being Hoover clean and not by other brands!! See if you can find the Hoover in the photo-- (Photo 1)!! This post was last edited 11/02/2015 at 21:03 |

I want to put a special Thank You and Honor of Gratitude out to our wonderful host-- John Long!!
I want to say that this is my 5th year or somewhere around there of coming to Mini Meets/ and Halloween Monster Bashes at Johns?? He is always a welcoming and gracious host! His extensive 450 approximate Hoover treasures are just a small bonus of being welcomed at his house. For each visit John takes the time to select a few different cleaners available downstairs and to line the stairwell! In addition sometimes parts of the dinner are prepared using a Hoover appliance! Hovever even greater appreciated than his collection is his strong, continuous efforts to make his home available for many of us to come meet up. A full course meal is always prepared to include snacks for before and after a great dinner. The full homemade dinner always includes an appetizer or antipasti, entree and of course dessert. You're more than welcome for the salad John. I'm more than happy to bring something whenever I come to help the occasion! Sometime I need to make one of my Chocolate Chip cakes! My great friend and former housemate Whitney loves it!!! Of course the base of all this is John himself, with wonderful stories, genuine conversation, hours of laughter and great friendship. It's always good to see great friends. Sometimes I feel that John missed his calling in being a teacher and he should of been a comedian! So Thank You very much John, for taking time out of your hectic schedule for preparing and opening up your home, preparing a great meal and having a huge heart to continue to invite several of us each year to this now great tradition of the Monster Bash 5 and other Mini Meets that you've held! No one stayed overnight this time which was unusual but we were also a smaller crowd all with busy schedules. One never knows when that exceptionally busy time of year arrives but when it rains it pours! We all appreciate the slightly unusual warmer weather this time of year as well. While in the previous week we experienced some temperatures in the 30's at night in Pennsylvania, this week we have temperatures in the 70's during the day! So it's been nice weather for the end of season lawn mowings, leaf cleanups, garden winterizations and of course decorating. John's house was very nicely done up with festive Halloween decorations. It makes his house easy to find compared to his boring neighbors who don't decorate! Of course in addition to John, we can't forget to thank Murphy and Arthur! Unfortunately, Arthur was camera shy at the moment! By the way- I'm not a heavy dessert eater but I really enjoyed the spice cookies!!! I've never had a cookie like that before. I think its my spice loving taste buds but they were exceptional. Softer than a normal cookie too which I like!!! This post was last edited 11/02/2015 at 20:45 |

I think John has picked up on the fact that Chicken Parmesan or Chicken Parmigiana is one of my favorite foods! Many of friends can't believe I'm not Italian for how much I love Italian foods. I'll eat just about anything with tomato sauce or as I usually refer to it: Marinara. When my spicy loving taste buds are in the mood then I find Arrabbiata!
John offered me some of the leftovers to take home. A greatly appreciated gesture which made my Monday night dinner fairly easy! An easier dinner was appreciated tonight as I ended up digging out a trench to create a rock garden on a property today while working with my landscape contractor. Digging dirt is one thing. But when you're digging up gravel and rock, it's a completely different story!!! You just don't get very far very quickly and unfortunately Tractor Supply and another vendor did not a Pick Axe so we just had shovels! Anyways, I figured I would take a picture of my leftover Chicken Parmesan from John! I heated it up in a skillet and gave it a little fresh cheese. To accompany I had left over Arrabiata vegetable sauce that I had created last week which I tossed through some Mafalda (mini lasagna) pasta. Then I took some asparagus in the house and roasted it with rosemary, minced garlic and a little butter! For Authenticity purposes there is a Hoover Celebrity IV Elite S3141 advertisement in the background! Sorry but prior to this post you won't be able to find this picture on Google cause it came from my kitchen tonight!! LOL Ironically enough when I came home from work, I had vacuumed my house with my Hoover Celebrity IV Elite S3141 as well! So it was very fitting to find that advertisement for the photo, matching the cleaner I used to vacuum with tonight followed by an Italian dinner!! Thanks again John for the leftovers!! Thank you again to Joel, Chris and Mike for getting the suction unit working on this Hoover Celebrity when I first got it! The power nozzle I was lucky to buy off another collector whom I met through Facebook. Great vacuum cleaner! Plus, now that my Hoover Steamvac Widepath Spinscrub is back in-order I can finish all of these carpets as there is still some sort of black sticky residue on them from the previos resident!! I've gone over most of the place but I want to do a second shampooing as well. Not the first time I've moved into a place and my vacuum brushes and beater bars collect a heavy buildup!! I'm constantly wiping a sticky like residue that collects on baseplates of all my vacs but especially the beater bars on my Hoover Celebity canisters and Rotomatic canister. |

Would you schlep all the way from Ohio? THen, we should discuss it. perhaps you, Luke, and Norm can 'carpool'....
Some guys couldn't make it. Two said, "We'd love to come'. Never showed up, never called, etc. They've done this before. When they were called, (dinner was late), they were 'having hors'doveurs" !!!! Tells me they were never coming. They don't consider me at all, so, I can return the favor, and, I will! WEll, next time, (January, I think), they'll have loads of time to enjoy their appetizers...... but, it won't be at 103 William Street. It was great tosee my friends. Matt G. usually drops in. He in a church organist, and there is a Sat. p.m. Mass in Scranton thathe must play at. Hopefully next time. All of the outdoor decorations are down. I'll spend this week putting EVERYTHING away, finishing up some woodwork, and getting things ready to decorate for Christmas. I also have to get another bedroom ready for overnight guests. Hope ye all enjoyed the photos. John John |
