Well, I am pretty happy.
I admit my weekend didn't start off wonderful. After talking to the sellers of the vacs I bought in Pittsburgh, we decided to ship because it would be cheaper (forgot about tolls etc), which is good, just no cleaners right away... So over to Hagerstown I go to pick up the Hoover 835..At least I'll have that I think to myself...It was a business, and I knew it was normally closed on Sundays, but I had made specific arrangements with the seller to pick the vac up on a sunday, and they agreed. I get there after hour and a half driving...and I know its the right place-has an "ebay pick-up, drop off" thing (inside)...and wait....and wait...Finally after an hour, angry that I wasted so much time, I drive home. Not a good start to my weekend... (well actually end-it was Sunday). But then today (ok so technically its not the weekend but oh well) luck turns around. I had stopped by at a little vac shop on Main Street a few days ago, and the owner had said he would pay me to haul all the old vacs out to the junk. Which was awesome!, because there were definately some vintage vacs in there. So today I come in, he says actually the Salvation Army is coming to take them, so I'm a little disapointed. But then he says he wouldn't know why, but if I really wanted to just pull around out back and take what vacs I wanted! He gave me 2 old e-lux hoses as well, and promised when the rest of the vacuums were taken, he'd pull out his boxes of attachments and wands and whatnot and let me have any of the old ones. I asked him if he had any other older vacs, and then I almost cried as he said "Oh, I get them occasionally, but anything older than 60's I just throw away". But then he said whenever he gets any old trade-ins, he would call me and let me have them. I even asked him about connies, and he said "Oh yea, those round ones? I've gotten a few of those, but I just throw them out...". Sigh...

Here is most of it, minus the Hoovers plus the XXX. Forgot to mention I also got a working Kirby (516?) without the head part.

Broken powernozzle, fixable?

2 different power nozzle styles? Im guessing one for G and one for 1205?

This one works great, as does the E-lux 1205.

Got another hose today as well. The hoses I have only seem to fit the 1205 because of two little prong things at the end, ?

The Kirby; works good, but dirty, and needs some parts...

The E-lux G :). This was so much more quieter than expected! I love it! Now to find a hose and attachments... Oh, and for the record, all of these have yet to be cleaned up...only had time to quickly take some pics. (and maybe try one or two out!)

The E-lux 1205; in good shape. Smooth (instead of textured) paint, so an earlier model?

The Hoover Convertibles. I'll be picking up another tomorrow. I take back what I said before, I thought 2 of these worked, they dont. But they're all eithe missing cords or have the cord cut, so that could be why.

And here's the Rainbow. Doesn't work, and I dont know anything about it...Dont these use water or something?

Nick

You are correct that 1205 is an earlier model! I sent you an e-mail. I have a ton of PN-1 parts, hoses, etc. that I can give you to help restore those Luxes to like new! Congrats on your finds!

Hi Nick

yes the rainbow does use water and some of them are known for their motors going out. I like those E luxes
Great find

That is a lot of really nice stuff, Nick. I like the XXX the most of these pics.

Nice haul, Nick!

Looks like you got somem nice vintage machines there. The Lux G looks like it was repainted somewhere along the line with a metallic paint instead of the usual turquoise.
The Convertibles will look great once you get them cleaned up, and I understand the lavender one is somewhat rare. Thanks for sharing the pix.
