Just think if he can sell that gold mine he's setting on, that Ol' boy is going to buy himself some serious narcotics! Why, he should at lest be wired for three or four days or more, all of course, depending upon his tolerance of his junk of choice.

Not me--the machine is in too poor a condition to be worth $999--and the other question---does it work???

He doesn't even have the years it was made correctly. The Royal Standard was not the first model (I have the first model in the Vacuum Museum). His machine also has the wrong cord and bag.

There are some real idiots on eBay who are very optimistic about the price they ask for old cleaners. There's a Kirby 505 for $3000 on there (someone just wants to show off). When I want to laugh - I go to the vacuum cleaner category and refine the search for price highest first. It's a RIOT.

....and....I'm not sure where s/he gets the idea that it's the first bagless vacuum. Sure looks like it has a bag to me. Ridiculous price, pure silliness.

Gee, now I feel bad that I passed up that same model at the Kane County Flea Market for $15.

John,

It's bagless in the sense that it does not use disposable bags.

Interesting.

Hi Ben:

So a Kirby Classic 111 is also 'bagless?' That means 99% of my collection is also bagless, not to mention the Rexair models B, and C.

Alex,

As I said before, in a way, yes. . . meaning you shake out the bag when you're finished vacuuming, rather than tossing a half-full disposable bag into the garbage.

I disagree with the term "bagless" being applied to cloth shake-out bags. A bag is a bag. A Rexair is bagless. Anything with a bag, be it a reusable cloth bag, or a disposable paper bag, is not "bagless".

I agree.

Cloth bag, paper bag, "handisac", is some sort of a bag. A new, "bagless' OR your Rainbows, Filterqueens, etc have NO bag. thus: bagless. However, for instance, on a HOOVER "Brushvac", you open the 'cup', and there is a bag-like apparatus. I know some "Pixies", etc had an "optional" bag setup.
But, that's getting picky.
So, yep, if there is a BAG on a cleaner, I'm thiking it's safe to say it is NOT "bagless".

I will have to agree with Ben. If it has a dirt container that can be emptied and reused over and over again, then it's bagless.

But...what's connected to the dirt container...?

If the dirt went directly into the Sani Em-Tor without the need for a bag on top, then I'd agree. But the fact of the matter is, the tray is just an easier way to empty the bag without taking it off. You still have to shake the contents of the bag into the Em-Tor.

Hi Ben.

I happen to like the shake-out bag, and of course the sani-em-tor of the Kirby machines. I also like the disposable bags of the Electrolux models.

But I still feel that machines like Rexair, and Filter Queen are indeed bagless as they use water, or a cone filter.

I guess it's a what does he have to lose scenario. He relists it when it doesn't sell. Besides, maybe that guy with all the bucks buying the rare models will bite on it. lol
