So i have my Granmothers old (early) 80's Kenmore 3.9. The problem with it is that the wand lower/release pedal wont stal up on its own, allowing the wands to fall frequently. Can somebody tell me how to fix this?
I am going to pick this up Sunday (Aug 30) and i plan on fixing it up as soon as I can to put it back into normal use
Thanks!
Andy

That's a very common problem with these

In my experiences, the little plastic tab that pushes against the pivot elbow is broken off (and has been on almost every older Kenmore Powermate I have ever used). I believe you can get a new pedal assembly from Sears Partsdirect if you type in the model number of your Powermate. I hope this helps.

I agree with above. The handle release pedal needs to be replaced. And I think this machine is from the late 80s to early 90s by the color. This canister style came around 1984. I had the same one 3.9 for awhile but didn't have the power nozzle for it.
