Well,
it looks like Sunday will be pretty busy for me this weekend. I'll be picking up 3 different vacs, all on the same day. I'll start out by zooming to Hagerstown (hour in a fast modern car...so hour and a half at least for me) where I'll pick up my Hoover 835, then to Pittsburgh (phew...3 hours hopefully??) to pick up a broken electrolux that has all the attachments I need, then to another place in pittsburgh to get a beautiful Royal Cannister, and then back to Laurel... Well, here are some pics.

The first...a Hoover 835 (right?), with all the attachments and booklets and everything. I got it on ebay for $30. The seller wanted something ridiculous like $130 for shipping, which i think scared off most bidders. But alas, I live only an hour (or so) away, so no shipping costs (besides gas) for me!

Here is the E-lux XXX with the attachments I need. Note one attachment isnt for an electrolux, but it has most (all?) of them and a good hose, which I desperately need. Uhh that one was $12 on ebay (again, no shipping costs).

And here my favorite, a beautiful old Royal Cannister. Doesn't come with all the attachments (or the proper hose), but you can't go wrong for $15 (craigslist). Supposed to work great too.

Another pic of the Royal. Does anyone know what year these were?

The extra part on the model XXX is from an old GE / Premier / Hotpoint. I believe the Royal was 1951-54

Great Finds, Nick!!

And I was one of the people who didn't bid on the 825 Hoover because of the shipping price. Always liked the 825 because of the way Hoover lights up in red when it's running (provided the light works, of course).
What's wrong with the Lux? It looks pretty good to me. And besides the GE nozzle that Doug identified, the other rug nozzle is from a model XII Lux.
And the Royal IS BEAUTIFUL! Hope it won't take you long to find the attachments to complete it.
Jeff

The lengths and distances to grab a vac
Sounds familiar when I saw the blue Eureka self propelled for sale 60 miles away. I was in the truck first thing in the morning zooming down the hiway to go fetch it thinking to myself I must be nuts or at the very least anyone I told would think I was... LOL
