Found this at a garage sale, the Rexair is listed as Rexair Division, Ward Industries. I've had several Rainbow Model D's, but this is the first Rexair D that I have.
The dolly has rusted thru in spots, the hose is breaking apart, the basin has the full place to clamp it on one side and the other side has about 1/4" left to clamp on to. I tried to save the ends of the hose but the rubber is just crumbling. The handle/wand still has the clear band for the suction control. I had to cut it off and carefully peal it off the wand. I then crazy glued it back together, cleaned the band and wand, then sprayed some silicone in the band and now it works again. I just feel bad that I had to cut the band to get it off, it was like someone glued it to the wand. When I bought it the woman told me it worked but you had to jiggle the cord to get it to work. Solved the short in the cord and started soaking all the screws with pb blaster. It runs, but is going to need new bearings. |

Congratulations on your Rexair. The gold Model D was made, during it's five year run, by three different companies. Ward Industries was second. The hose has been replaced at some point - the original was brown (same hose as the GE pink Swivel Top). You have, in my opinion, one of the BEST rug nozzles (straight suction) ever made. The bearings are still available - but you have to go to a bearing shop as Rexair no longer carries them.
