Hi just wanted to take a minute to say how much pleasure I have taken from the Vacuumland site to date. My partner found this site over a year ago and suggested that I should check it out. I am so very pleased I did. I have been a member for just a little over a year. I will work to get my collections up on this site over the next few months. It is really nice to see other people like to collect as much as I do and to share what they have found.

Special shutout to Dave Kerr from Stratford that I had the great pleasure meeting in person about 7 months ago through a connection from work, during a celebration of life had an opportunity to share stories from vacuumland and our specific collections. While Dave would have a much larger collection than I we do have a lot in common.

I would also like to give a second shutout to Doug from Saskatoon who has been able to assist me with the validation of the vintage of my Electrolux vacuums.

For me it all started with my mother’s 1957 Electrolux vacuum, I was hooked and just loved every opportunity that presented that I could vacuum. My mother’s friends loved when she would come to visit for coffee as I would play with their vacuums and clean their homes.

It was also very cool for me to only live 1 block away from our local Electrolux vacuum sales man and loved to visit his home and shop when given the opportunity.

These are a few pictures of my vacuum collection which contains my grandmothers, mothers and aunts Electrolux’s. As part of my collections they also include mixers, blenders etc. I will set up the correct categories and post these going forward.

Thank you to everyone at vacuumland for sharing your treasures.

Welcome

As the others have stated, you have a very nice setup for your collectibles... I especially like the shelves for your vacuums (I need to do something like that for myself one of these days).

I also love to see Electrolux collections - my own collection started with a model LX!

I look forward to seeing and hearing more from you...
Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful collection and presentation! If I'm not mistaken, that ottoman in the last photo, in front of the chair, is an Electrolux storage trunk is it not?!

What model did you mother have in 1957? Was it the American Model E-Automatic? I have a 1956 Canadian Electrolux brochure showing that as the new model for that year.

Hi John, David, Geoffrey and Myrtle, thank you for reading my post and for your great comments of encouragement and your warm welcome.

Myrtle, my mother’s first Electrolux was the Canadian Super Model Cleaner Electrolux Mechanical Maid which was black and gray which is located on the second shelf.

You are correct the brown trunk in the picture has my mother’s AP100 which was her third Electrolux and it has the manual and all of the attachments. The only item that is not original is the wand as it had broken and I have not been able to find a replacement yet.

In the third photo you will see another Electrolux trunk and it has the Model Z54 with manual insert for Z54 and all the of attachments which was the less expensive Electrolux as it had combined rug and floor brush and dusting brush and upholstery tool. It also has all of the floor polisher brushes etc. I don’t have the Triple Action Floor Polisher but it is also on my list to pick up if I can find it.

Thanks again everyone

You know , I looked and looked at your shelving set up, and I can't help but like it. It's almost what I would picture an operators showroom would look like. Not a new vendor, but a hardware store that dates way back, and now has vacuums where canned goods were once stacked. Very cool.

By gum, it is great to see you here, Steve! Just got your nudgeing email and will write back at length in the next days.

What with the light summer work sched and the new boat - duh - I have begun August planning for the stall/booth I've gotten, at last, at the Stratford Antique Warehouse - a vendor-absent indoor 'flea market'. Just yesterday I saw and measured the booth I get, have the shelving units in storage ready to be moved and am making a new slab top for a nice maple base I rescued from the curbside trash (when London U students were moving out) for the smalls.
I expect to be moving the classic extra vacuums out the door as tourism is in full swing and ramps up again after Labour Day.
The stall I get is half of a double one the guy is giving up so I have 8' wide x 10' deep floorspace to fill up attractively & enticingly with the huge accumulation I told you about, as I continue the drive to downsize & declutter my way to simplified and active retirement in 2017.

Went through an arduous two month wi-fi & mainframe computer situation in June & July. A bird, it turns out, had built a nest inside the shell covering the city's transmitter on the phone pole across the street. At the same time my XP mainframe tower gave up the ghost. So, new state of the art computers - one running Win7 & an ASUS ZenBook running Win8.1 - both now corrected with a traditional START MENU!!!! I will prudently wait on the move to Win10.

Having a blast going thru stuff and un-earthing items I haven't seen in 15 years and more.

Thank you for the mention and guys who are aware will be pleased to know my health & fitness have improved exponentially since returning home a year ago. In fact today August 9 is the anniversary! Yippeedoodle!

Tho' I spend most of my time over in Washerland I do monitor the goings on here; this is a perfect opportunity to express my continuing enthusiasm for all things vaccumage...

Here's some recent shots from around the house as I organize and discover. What to keep, what to let go...These are all keepers, btw.
Three pics of double booth #550 - Mine is the right one soon to be cleared out. Last, Dave at the lake.

Welcome fellow Canadian! Vacuumland is the "Happiest Place on Earth" for cleaner-philes like us. One day I hope to go the annual convention to meet everyone.

If you have any Viking vacs or Baycrest vacs made by Eureka, it would be great to see pics....

(We Canucks should really have a mini-meet one day....in the summer of course!)

Vacs north of the border

Steve-Great vacs (& more)! We have seen lots of very nice collections here but many in Canada are always above average.I guess it doesn't hurt that you have many Canadian Elux and accessories that we don't usually see in US.

Dave-Good to hear from you here including that you are healthy & fit.As you perfect a system to downsize, declutter, simplify & retire feel free to bring it here.I currently have the vac store,3 booths in 3 local antique malls(1 with mid-century & art-1 with antique oak & glassware-1 with 1000+ books),EBay with 10-30 items weekly & now have to begin sorting items from my parents house as one has died with the other planning a move to assisted living. So I guess good luck to us both!,

Jimmy

Thank you Chad, Garry, Dave, Michael, Brian, Jimmy, for all of your positive comments and warm welcomes. I find it a lot of fun collecting vacuum’s floor polishers, electric mixers, blenders and toasters.

Being part of Vacuummland.org is a lot of fun for me to visit the various posts and to see what other great finds others are finding and saving from landfill and the garbage. It is also nice to hear how people fix and complete the machines to get them back to the state they had been purchased in.

For any of the collectors who like Electrolux vacuums this is an awesome find that I found at an antique store in Waterford which is just outside of Toronto. It had a price of $67.00 which I thought was for the footstool that held the vacuum. Well when I opened it and found the model 54 which was the bottom of the line at the time. You'll notice that the manual is from a model 55, which was the standard machine. Top of the line was the model 57, which also came with the 55 manual and a sheet describing the differences.

The model 54 came with the US style dual parts, which in Canada were considered to be BOL because you didn't get a full set of parts (Where as in the US they were considered TOL because you didn't have so much to carry around). What is pictured is everything that came with the machine plus part of the shampooer. In 1957 they would have had the BX5 Shampooer, which matched the model 57. I will continue to look for the BX5 Shampooer.

Thank you again everyone for the warm welcome

What a great find! I've always liked the 54 -- great color scheme and, my being American, like the Model-E style attachments!

Here are a couple of photos of one of mine.

I nearly always use my vintage machines. The newest one I have is an Electrolux Grand Marquise. It's a great vacuum cleaner but I don't like the sound of the motor. It's too noisy.
