So I acquired these yesterday. Love the Kenmore, but I have a problem with the Clarke. It needs the belt, brushroll, and bottom plate. Everything else about it is fine. Does anyone happen to have either of those parts or know where I could find them for cheap? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

clarke 500

I have the same Clarke 500 found at a roadside flea market several years ago. Mine came complete with "dirt-daubers" nests all thru it (bee types that build nests with mud!) After getting all that cleaned out, it fired right up. You can hardly hear it run. Unfortunately, not much info on it out there that I could find. I talked with Clarke at their office and they, of course, no nothing about it but think from the photos I sent that it was built in the late 60's or early 70's. However, you can bet the bag and belts at Graingers supply (nation wide or online). I found new brush strips from a secret source :) that I will be happy to share with you if needed. Good luck! Its a monster of a machine and I hope you live on one floor or go to the gym a lot!!!

Packardmanken,

Thanks for your input! I would love that secret source as I really need a belt, brushroll, and bottom plate for this machine.

Parts

Drake,
I have all of the parts you need. I have two of these machines as well, one being a parts machine.
Send me an email, and we will discuss details.

Alright,

I'll send you an email tonight when I get off work. Would you be willing to trade for some other parts or a machine for the parts? Or just cash for the parts? I also need a belt.

my 500

I found this brand new old stock Clarke 5oo stashed in a garage attic with 2 other vacuums, still in the box. I love it and have only started using it 3 days ago.

I didn’t know we had these vacuums in the US! I think I remember seeing a YouTube video made by ibaisaic which I enjoy his videos! Isn’t he a vacuumland member too? I don’t know but anyways his was a blue color.

WOW- You are extremely fortunate.

Such a beautiful machine with the chrome handle, hence the red bag with black block motive/lines!!!! A trip down memory lane.

In South Africa we had the exact range, under the umbrella of TEDELEX made in Western Germany. The small Tedelex beat-n-sweep vacuum cleaner with the bag in front of the handle, also the TEDELEX floor polishers 2SL(2 brush no suction or bag) and the victorious 3SL which featured the 3 brushes giving you a more even and streak less shine with the suction inflatable bag which expanded when switched on.
The different colours also representing the era of the 60's, 70's and 1980's was either red, like your machine or orange or a light blue in older machines.

In Europe they were known as FAKIR.

These machines disappeared off the face of the earth. I have a TEDELEX 3SL in light blue and an European Privleg beat-n-sweep in beige and brown, however finding the reds and orange versions are non existant!!!!

Congratulations and hope you have many years of happiness of your CLarke 500.

Adrian
