Hey everybody,
I got an electrolux XXX for free today (craigslist, woo!). Its my first electrolux (and actually my first vintage cannister), so I admit Im a complete newbie in that regard. With that being said, it does work! (the guy wasnt sure if it would). But thats about all I know. The hose is in awful condition-its ripped completely in several places; I guess ebay for a replacement? How hard is it to get an authentic hose in good condition? (I'll keep the old one tho). Oh, and is there just anything I should know about electroluxes, how to replace the bags, what kind of bags, just general Q's... and stuff?

But yay I've got a lot of good finds this weekend, what with the toaster and blender and all, and now a free electrolux =]

Hey Nick! While an original Model 30 hose would be next to impossible to get, you should be able to find an orginal replacement Electrolux hose that would look good with your machine. That machine would have had a cloth bag on the inside, giving the owner the option of just using the cloth bag or putting a paper bag into the cloth bag. It would have also come with many all metal attachments. BTW, you can tell by the flat runners on the bottom that yours is a very early Model XXX. Happy Luxing! Trg

Congratulations on your first XXX Nick, here's a shot of one I got about a month ago. This is before the floor brush, upholstery tool, and caddy showed up from Toby (trg1969).

Alan that's a nice lux!
Oh, and Logan, the cord is actually in very good condition. There's only one spot where its just a little worn and cracked, but other than that its in very good condition. So I'm happy with my find! (and even happier with the fact that it was free!)

As you can see, plug itself in good condition
