Hey all,

A newbieish question here:

I just acquired a Royal Commercial metal vacuum with the shake-out bag (clip on top).
I need to find a replacement for the 'O' ring that goes inside the bag coupling that connects to the vacuum exhaust. (see pic, inside where the red arrow is)

Anyone know where I can find one or what it's even called so I can google properly?

I'm in Australia, but happy to freight is over, need a few brush belts too...

Hi Nick,

First place to check would be vac shops in your area, especially Royal dealers if there are any. Another possibility for the bag gasket (O-ring) would be your local hardware store, they could probably come up with a close (or exact) match. As for the belt, if no one has Royal belts over there, a Kirby belt will also work.

Sorry about the double post! Robert or Fred, can you remove one?

Jeff, I have to wonder if Nick took a Hoover Convertible belt or Eureka F&G belt (both round belts), if he just cut to the right length & use some glue to hold it in place? That to me sounds like it would make a perfect bag seal for the Royal.

Nick, the belts you want are the Royal Style 8 belt or Kirby 301291 belts. Both are knurled flat belts, they grip the motor belt pulley better & last longer than conventional flat belts, since the rubber can't become slippery on the inside & start to cause slippage. Both these belts are EXACTLY IDENTICAL, just different lettering, so just grab whichever one is cheaper or that you can buy in quantity cheaper.

Rob,
I don't think cutting down a Convertible or Eureka belt would work, as they are a tad too thick to use for a bag gasket. The proper gasket shouldn't cost much anyway, and if there are no dealers nearby the local hardware store should be able to match up an O-ring for him fairly cheap.
