Hey everyone,

I have a Kirby Heritage II here that's having issues with intermittent power. First I thought it was the speed switch as preliminary troubleshooting led me to find manually pushing the speed switch allowed for power. However, after replacing the switch the issue is still occurring. Luckily though the vacuum gave me another clue by turning on after a couple tries and then while running very quickly dying, regaining power, and doing so a couple more times. Now I'm led to believe there's a faulty connection or dirty/bad motor brushes or commutator.

Has anyone run into this issue also after thinking the speed switch was bad, or does anyone simply have enough experience or insight with these to tell me how to procede? I'd rather not dissemble the whole damn thing to find the brushes and motor are fine if it can be avoided, although I can't see any bad connections which is leading me to believe that is the issue...

Have you checked the connection where the power cable plugs in? I think ours used to crack on our old Legend II.

Welp, just checked and one of the carbon brushes has like 3mm left on it and the other one is just totally worn off. Mods feel free to delete this thread.
