Nice "FrankenKirby" (parts used from different models). I really like the gold and red combination!

Congrats!

That Legend II 13" head is rare!

Believe it or not, Kirby actually had made the 13" nozzle an option for the Heritage I starting in late 1982/early 1983, and continued doing so up to the Legend II. As such, I want to think it would have the correct double-row ("Quadra-Sweep") brush roll inside of it.

Again, this was a fine purchase you made! Here is what the 516's real nozzle looked like.

Ben, that doesn't look like a Heritage 13" head to me. It looks like somebody put a Legend II belt lifter on the original head when the original belt lifter broke. I know I did that to my 519 with a Heritage belt lifter when it finally broke after all those years it had been on the vacuum.

Rob,

Having seen that pic again, I agree with you that you are correct about the nozzle on the 516, that the Legend II belt lifter was a replacement. The nozzle bumper gives away the fact that it is a 516 nozzle with the LII lifter assembly on it. Thank you!

Rob,

What I am still unsure of is if what I'm seeing inside (underneath the headlight cap) is the original metal air adjusting plate of the 516's nozzle, or the belt lifter decal that would be correct for the Legend II nozzle.

Ben....true, & good points. But like you said above, it has the correct 516 bumper, plus a 13" Heritage head isn't going to activate the speed switch on a 516. So it can't be a Heritage head. What I think is more likely is that the air adjusting plate & belt decal were either ordered new for a Legend II & fitted onto a 516, or they were used parts taken from a Legend II in some dealer's trade-in pile.

Rob,

In the case of the Heritage/Legend series 13" nozzles, there would also be that nodule to the left of the hole on the back of the nozzle that would activate the speed switch on those models.
