I was wondering what carpet cleaners Singer may have sold over the years. If I am correct, they made the Sears Kenmore PowerSpray and Cleanmore Home Cleaning Systems. I was wondering if they ever had these machines under the Singer name or any other types. I do recall they sold a turtle shaped carpet cleaner similar to the Kenmore PowerSpray. There was a Kenmore version of it as well and later Bissell sold it under their name. And I think there was a small hand wet/dry vac Singer that was also a stain remover.
And what year was the Sears PowerSpray/Cleanmore discontinued? I was guessing 1995 or so. I know the turtle shaped cleaner I saw has the swoosh Kenmore logo which would place it around 1996, I have never seen a Sears PowerSpray/Cleanmore with swosh logo, but I have seen the Spraymate attachment with the swoosh logo and Spraymate was in italic font. But it was the same color as the turtle cleaner so I assumed it went with that and not the older PowerSpray/Cleanmore version. |

Here is a listing I saw on eBay for a Singer Turtle. This one looks to be a standard nozzle. However I have seen a Turtle with a powered sprayer/ brush head.
The picture is one of the Kenmore edition Carpet cleaner that I found on a Facebook vacuum site from another collector. I want to say that both of these machines would be early 90's like around 1994. I have not yet had an opportunity to see or run one in person! CLICK HERE TO GO TO Durango159's LINK on eBay

That Singer Turtle carpet cleaner would be in the 90s, not sure exactly when. Bissell bought Singer's floor care division back in 1996, and they too had a version of that Turtle under the Bissell name in hunter green.
The Kenmore version would be 1996 or later going by the logo. The Spraymate head looks just like the ones that came with some of the Kenmore Power Spray shop vac-like cleaners they sold in the 80s and early 90s. I think the Power Spray was probably replaced with that Turtle style around the time that the logo change occurred. I've never seen a Power Spray with the newer Kenmore logo or a Turtle with the older logo. I haven't seen a Singer version of the Power Spray either. I know in 1993-94 Kenmore sold a Power Spray cleaner with the regular cleaning head, but it also included a dry power nozzle called a DryMate that looked a lot like the ones on Singer canisters of the time. |
