I bought a Javelin 12 vacuum cleaner with no front cover and could never find just the bag housing cover at a reasonable price. Finally I ordered an entire upper half of a Windsor 12 (unfortunately in very rough condition-it only looks as "good" as it does because I sanded it extensively!).

It fits perfectly and now I'd like to sell my working monstrocity on eBay, but I can't find the specifications for the Javelin 12, only the Windsor.

Are Windsor and Javelin the same company? Are these two vacuums identicle but branded differently? What is different about the Javelin 12 from the Windsor 12?

Where can I find the Javelin 12 specs?

Haven't seen the Javelin brand before, but...

Yes, they're the same machine. Manufactured by Sebo.
I'm guessing Javelin is a private label for some janitorial supply company.

Well spotted bisonian. It seems that Allstar Javelin have some SEBO vacuums. Here's another - found it by Googling. Evidently the auction has now passed.

What seems to be different is the JAV 12 sticker says 6,8 amps (6 comma 8). The Windsor S12 is 10 amps. I can't find the specifications of the JAV-12 anywhere online, at all.

Trying to be an honest eBayer is a pain.

Would it be dishonest to list it like this:

Javelin JAV-12 By Windsor Commerical Vacuum Cleaner

The top of the vacuum is from a Windsor S12. Although base is branded Javelin JAV-12, the JAV-12 is identical to the Windsor S12 but with an 8 amp motor instead of the S12's 10 amp motor.

Here is a picture of the base. Thanks guys!

If it reads 6,8 amps, it could be 6.8 (as in point)

This is taken from the manual for the old SEBO 360 upright/Windsor. You'll see it says 6.4 amps, which is 1000 watts in the European version.

Also the grey floor head X1 models in Europe have 1000 watts max. The white models beforehand had 850 watts.

Call it what it is.

If I were listing it online, I would list it as a Javelin 12 and then explain in the item description that missing plastics were replaced with pieces from a Maverick 12, which is essentially the same machine. There's no need to go into a lengthy dissertation about the differences between the two. Your machine is what it is. and it isn't a Maverick. Of course, it's possible you could also pull in a few eyeballs by listing it as a Javelin 12 'Frankenvac', which would also be accurate and maybe a little more fun.

Oh but yes there is. This is what makes vacuumland so appealing. We're not Fixya.com

I was referring to advertising it online.

Yes, it is interesting to us vacuum geeks but we're what you'd call a niche audience. It would only confuse the average reader of an eBay or CraigsList posting. It's all about creating a message that's appropriate for the intended audience.
