What year did the tandem air vacuums debut? I recently acquired a 2006 Riccar Brilliance. Works great like brand new just was wondering when they were brought out to market? Any draw backs on the older models aside from the short hose?

The early model Radiance I had-couple things-the bag door latch broke and the beater bar-primary motor kept cutting out-even after the dealer tried adjusting the sensitivity of the cutout according to Riccar instructions.Returned the machine-and Riccar provided me thru the dealer another Radiance(Burgundy one) that works perfectly. The dealer kept my old machine for display. The other Riccar/Simplicity tandem air machines I have work just fine.Premium Radiance,Brilliance and Simplicity Synergy.Had a very minor problem with that--the indicator light for the primary-beater motor didn't light when activated-the motor ran OK.Again the dealer replaced the machine-replacement A-OK.Like how Tacony fixes any problems-they will replace the machine!

2005 was the official launch of the brilliance models. Since then, there have been many upgrades to the system. Not the least of which is the new fan in the clean air motor which is virtually unbreakable. The new 15 foot hose, and the new charcoal and HEPA filtration system are but some of the updates. If you would ever like to have your brilliance completely rebuilt with all the new updates, that is certainly doable and at a cost that is extremely reasonable.

Thanks Tom

It's a great machine I can tell the difference in the older brilliance and my new simplicity synchrony I purchased last year. Different sound to the older machine.
I would actually consider the upgrade since they discontinued this model I have which is the navy blue Riccar brilliance. Which is the main reason why I bought it.. I love the color and look of the Riccar looks a bit fancier than my synchrony ha ha.

Tom - wasn't there a tandem canister vacuum at one time with a Eureka upright as the "power nozzle", or was that a Frankenvac?

Wouldn't that be the fan in the primary 1st motor that is unbreakable?

As a side note, I just found this online and it is great to see how the U.S responded to Miele in terms of snatching sales.

So, is the new dirty air fan made of Amodel?

Ralph, that would be an Air-Way with tandem air Eureka built power nozzle.
