I came across the Sears best with handle controls and could not pass it up. This machine just gets so many things right. It's in immaculate condition, and after a quick disassemble and wash and some NOS brush strips and bearings she's Good to go. Even the original hose does not have cracks in the typical spots. I do however need the tool caddy and tools for this, as well as a new top wand. My wand has some hairline cracks but at the cord management part but still functions fine.

That is a GREAT example of one of the LAST Kenmores made before the quality really started to decline. This is close to the perfect canister: Reliable with strong suction, excellent carpet cleaning, excellent tools and excellent build quality. I have an early 70's Magicord and the model made RIGHT after this one (The new design.) It's ok, but not quite a good as the Magicord. I also have a green compact Magicord with a siezed motor that i'm trying to restore.

I think it runs a lil quieter than the whispertones, which had that annoying pitch. If it had a quick release for the PN it would be perfect

Really great machines, nice find! I had a dream I was overhauling one similar to that just 2 days ago and I have never owned one of them, yet!

Great find. Be careful with that hose, as replacements, especially that type, just aren't around anymore. I believe the correct attachments for this are black, but styled like the earlier white ones.

If you want to replace the filter material in the Maxifilter housing, you can get some cut to fit foam material and glue it in place. You could even use Electrostatic or HEPA material to get even better filtration.
