So i have a few questions about multiple different kirbys
First off, I have an early Kirby model C (as seen below) how do i get the fan off of the armature is it the same as a Kirby 560? Second, Do all Kirby's belt shafts (including my Kirby C) come off counter-clockwise? Third, What is the part no. of the brushes for my kirby model C or should i just bring it to my local vacuum shop and ask for them there? Thanks, Lars | ||

The belt shaft and fan are one unit and unscrew CLOCKWISE. Put something in the armature to lock it in place, then in most cases you can just grab the fan and rotate it clockwise and it should come right off.
Word of caution, when you put the motor back together (assuming that you take the bearing plate off) there are four screws that hold the bearing plate on. These screws screw into four posts inside the motor. If you do not hold the handle fork stop spring plate away from the motor you will cock the bearing plate and the screws will be extremely hard to get in. What ever you do you DON'T want to strip the posts that the screws go into. If you're going to replace the bearings they are an 87008 bearing (or if you like ND 8008 ) As for brushes, I took a regular old style Kirby brush and sanded it down to fit. The C uses a carbon brush that is just slightly smaller than the 505 - D80 brush. | ||
