It arrived today! I LOVE it! Very quiet, powerful & durable metal base.

A few questions:
1. Is the upper handle a replacement or was it painted? The upper handle is white
2. The height selector doesnt work, how can I fix it?
3. Are there better style C bags (micro-lined or HEPA)

Its been a while I haven't used a Convertible

The lower handle is tan; upper part white

A better pic describing what I mean by the weird color design

That's a great model.

The top half of the handle was replaced, of course.

Sometimes they would crack/break where the bag clip would go.  It became weakened because of the cut.

Another reason they went back to the spring.

John.

Looks a lot like the one we had when I was growing up except ours had a pistachio green motor cover and didn't have a headlight, which even as a small child I thought it should have. No doubt the top half of the handle was replaced from a donor machine. Had I been doing that repair, I might have replaced the whole thing for aesthetic purposes. Of course, I made up a two-tone handle for one of my Electrolux hoses because it was more important to me to use the best of what I had available than to make everything match.

I just put a Eureka style RD belt & works good; but I will probably upgrade to top fill bag for better performance

That "Pistachio green" one was

the one everyone called, "The Brady Bunch Vacuum". "Alice, the LATE Ann B. Davis" used it on the show.
Wouldn't you think that Mike, that successful architect, would have had a Deluxe Convertible for that big place? lolol

I am thinking about a 4-brush bristle only roller; should I go for genuine or generic? Or should I stay with the 2-brush/beater bar roller?

Being the purist that I am...

I'd go w/ the traditional beater bar.   BUT, I have seen good results with the other.

  Just me..................

I am vacing mostly glued-down carpets & some carpet with padding underneath. I was going to order a bristles only brush roller for vacing glued-down carpeting
