SO today I was using my recently acquired Handi Butler for my kirby, it was all going well, I polished half of my Heritage 2 Legend, when all of a sudden the buffing pad on the end of the flexible shaft stop spinning. I took off the handi butler to see black gunk splatter all over the inside of the main handi butler unit, now it turns out the black gunk is the drive belt which had partially melted, now I don't know if it's a coincidence but it's one of the hottest days of the year today, and maybe the heat was an issue? I used the handi butler yesterday with no ill affect, either way I stopped buffing and decided to use my other handi butler, for my tradition, that was all going well I got one half of the floor nozzle on my H2 Legend to be really shiny, and then the same thing happened, it stopped spinning, I also noticed that the shaft was incredibly hot and very soft and malleable, when I took off that handi Butler a large chunk of the belt had come off, so I'm at a loss at what to do, I'd really appreciate some help. Thanks, Thomas.

Tom,

These belts might work. . . it should be known Kirby stopped making the original Handi-Butler belts and other parts many years ago.

Tom, I should have warned you the belts get eaten up fast when polishing.
Try not to let the polishing mop slow down to much or stop. As this causes the belt to slip
Give it plenty of breaks, so it can cool down.
I bet they are the original belts.

I need to find an alternative belt as I use my handi butler quite regularly
