Some Facebook members may have already seen some versions of these pictures posted there by ChesterMike (with my permission).
Firstly I must express my grateful thanks to Mike, Rob & Paul and Jack & Jon for their assistance in getting the room set up and loading and unloading the cleaners during the moving process. It was about June last year that I decided the time had come for me to get a new home so I could have proper display space for my appliance collections and here is the first part of the story - my vacuum display studio. This first picture shows my German cleaners (AEG & Miele) on the top shelf and Canadian or American cleaners on the second. Another word of thanks has to go to Doug Smith (collector2) for the Canadian Luxes and the GE Roll Easy which I have been looking for for a long while. Underneath those are my boxed cleaners (not NIB), mostly Hoover but there are a couple of Bylocks and an Electrolux in there as well.

Are mainly the Hoovers - Portable and Compact models on the top shelf, Sensortronics on the second, Conquest & Harlequins (419 & 429)on the third and Freedoms and Cylinder models (417 & 427) on the fourth. There is also a blue 427 in amongst the "in box" cleaners. The Harlequins are largely identical, they just came in different colour schemes (at the same time)
Finally there are a number of "tub" cleaners on the floor. These are mostly from the early 1960s and are so heavy the floor was the best place for them.

On the opposite wall are Goblins on the left hand rack except the blue one at the top (Hotpoint) and the bottom shelf which are various makes, Siroma, CWS/Dudley & an East German Hollandia on the right of the shelf.
On the floor are more boxed cleaners, this time wooden boxes (which seems to be the closest thing we had to a hassock) - there are various makes in here - Electrolux, Vactric, Goblin & Unit

Are some uprights - this area needs a little more work so I can fit in some more uprights - as it is all my Hoover Junior & Senior models will have to go to the loft - I may make a display area up there too after seeing the example of Anthony's loft posted a few weeks ago. Hopefully I will have a chance to do something with this next weekend.

I should have posted this earlier, its a close up of the German and American machines.
I am so pleased that after 14 years collecting a have a proper display space to appreciate these cleaners that will be easy to share with others. There still needs to be a little work done to accommodate more canisters too, as Mike and I had just got it finished when two more cleaners arrived LOLOL Al

Thank you for the comments :)
Tom, thank you for the Roll Easy, a machine I have wanted since I visited AeolianDave back in 2010. I wonder is this the only example in the UK? Gary, the machine in question is branded in the UK as a Remocco, but I believe it to be a Dutch machine by Ruton or Erres. I am sure Doug will know the answer in a second but checking out his site the machine your grandmother had may have been Ford R7 or it may have been an Etonia as Eatons did import machines from Holland. It is VERY heavy, possibly the heaviest machine in my collection Joel, are you confusing me with John Long perhaps? I know I have quite a few Hoovers in my collection but mixing them up with Electroluxes, Goblins and other sundry brands might be viewed as sacrilege LOLOLOLOL Al |

Surreal was not quite the adjective I would have used but it certainly was a different way to pass a Christmas. And it is a happy accident that our two collections are reasonably complimentary - although that is probably more a reflection of our respective ages than anything else. Mike Although we have not discussed it, the possibility of a stair case (in this case leading no where) as a display space has crossed my mind, I am not sure if the regular staircase inside the house will be big enough for the Stairway of Juniors, we will have to see LOLOL Anthony Are all your Electroluxes the older type with the swivel out loop or do you have any that require a special bracket - 91/94/02/303/310/330/345/355. If the latter I discovered, quite by accident,an ideal hook at B&Q last week. It looks rather like the one on the link but it does not have the top bit on it - if you look carefully you can see them holding up the Electroluxes Al CLICK HERE TO GO TO Vacbear58's LINK |
