Okay, so there was a bit of a carry on with this vac, when it got to customs here in the UK I had to pay a £30 customs and handling charge! After receiving the letter from Parcelforce about the fee I had to pay, I went online as soon as the letter came and paid it, which was Thursday, last week, I said that I wanted delivery for Friday which was a selected option on the payment page.

Fast forward to Friday morning and it said on the tracking, "loaded to van for delivery" I waited in all day and NOTHING...I rang Parcelforce at about 5:30pm and they went and checked and told me that it had been returned to the depot as the driver had been unable to make it right around the area, I said "well I want it delivered tomorrow!" (Saturday) he said, "Saturday delivery is going to be £12.50" I was like... ARE YOU FRICKIN KIDDING ME?!

The parcel was late and they still wanted to charge me for delivery on a Saturday?! The guy on the phone said "I am sorry sir but your parcel will now be with you Monday" I was like "right, bye" and hung up, what a joke!

I have now had to take today (Monday) off work to wait in for the dam thing that should of been hear on Friday. It turned up and the box was bashed open! I thought, if this thing is damaged I will run a riot!!!

Here is the box, oh and notice the cleaner is upside down!

And what do you know, perfect!

alexhoovers94's profile picture

The box was far to big for the vacuum, bad start, then I took out the "packaging" which was nothing more than a bit of newspaper, the crevice tool had fell off in the box, that is no surprise for these things, the crevice tool is forever dropping off with any slight flexing of the tool caddy. I could not find the height knob and started getting stressed out, sure enough, it was amongst the newspaper, thought it was missing at first. phew!

I guess this shows how durable these Elites really were/are, this thing would of been smashed to bits if it was a UK Turbopower. I am so pleased with it! It is LUSH!

I was very sceptical about washing the bag, as I have washed these bags before and the logo fades and smudges. I decided to wash the bag by hand as there was not a cat in hells chance I was putting in the washer, I decided to use hair shampoo and I thought that laundry detergent would attack the transfer on the bag, here goes!!

Looks beautiful Alex!!  Can't wait to see it in its glory once you've cleaned it up!

Do you have a voltage converter to run it on UK power?

Good call on the shampoo I think. That air intake by the light is always stuffed full. Looking good.

Hi Jamie, I do indeed, it is a site transformer, steps down from 240v to 120v I did need to buy the cord that has the American socket on one end, with the plug end to correspond with the transformer on the other. It can be seen in the video I posted above. it goes up to 3.3KVA which will run a 12 amp American vacuum.

Thanks, the white backing of the bag would of come out much cleaner in the washer but I couldn't justify it as the logo would of come off. but as long as the bag is dust free and smells fresh.

This is a model U4617-910 and would have had a 6 amp motor at 120 volts. For 240 volts, where you are, those amps will register as 3.

Why? it sounds exactly the same as any other one I have seen used in the states, I am using a transformer that gives an output power of the 120v so it should be the same.

I think he is refering to it's power consumption? Double the volts = half the amps. Been years and years since electronics class, years. Not Ohms law, but maybe Watts?

We'll spell it out for you:

at 240 volts it will draw 3 amps or 720 watts

at 120 volts it will draw 6 amps the watts are still 720.

The answer to that quote there, is, I am not running this elite at 240v I am running it off a transformer which has an output of 120v the input to the transformer is 240v but the power coming out is 120v so the Elite is running on 120V NOT 240v

I was trying to say it would compare with one of your vacs there that was 3 amp. That is all.

We used to have customers come in to the Hoover store trying to buy that "replacemetn filter"... We would then tell them that there wasn't one, that in fact it was just hair and dust that accumulated. One customer didn't believe us. LoL
