looking for some photos to explain how to disassemble the ball bearing of the brushroll wich is very rusty.
Is this better to get a new brushroll or try to clean all parts of the old one?

thanks for help

theres a little C-clip on the outside of the bearing get a pin under that and lift up on it then it'll come off into two parts (as the picture shows) then just clean them. I use white spirits to clean them. Then just re-grease. Hope that helps :)

Although usually i just replace them if they're too rusty.

thanks but after I take the brushroll off, I do not see how to go to the bearing.
Rusty is everywhere on the piece.
Brushroll stays for about 20 years in a basement, until I got the vacuum from the seller.
I do not know why the rusty came only on this piece. All the rest of vacuum is absolutely perfect almost brand new.

@Nazard

I should have a spare brush roll somewhere. Not sure how much it will cost for me to send it though.

Thank you very much to Anthony for all pictures.
I'll try to do it...
Your pictures are very interesting for me.

To vacuumlover: I have no idea about shipping cost.

I'm still waiting for one I order some days ago in UK.
If it works well, I'll order one more for the green one in my basemnt (broken by the maid)

Is it difficult to change the pulley??

Pulley

@nazard.

To change the fan pulley you turn the pulley clockwise. If you place a screwdriver to stop the fan from moving then unscrew the pulley clockwise. To put a new one on the pulley screws on anti clockwise.

I replaced a pulley on my 652

PAULINROYTON: WOW...! Nice 652 model !!!!!!! Superb !!!
You are lucky to have this one.

VACUUMLOVER: Thank you for your help. I'm going to try to do that then order a new pulley. Your help is very precious.
The other 652 models I have are is good condition and still work very well.
Another guy in France told me he is ok to bring one more blue 652 to me.
He said, the vacuum stays in perfect condition. I hope this is true...

Hoover 652

@nazard.

My Hoover 652 is my pride and joy. The photo I took was before I cleaned her up. It needed a new fan pulley and works well now.

I don't use the 652 much. I recently acquired a Hoover junior 1354a. It came from a house clearance and hardly been used.

I've got lots of new pattern brushroll bearings, happy to send them if you need? Probably cheaper than posting a whole brushroll!
